The recent surge in immigration from the Middle East and North Africa into Europe, makes this entire region a melting pot of religions and cultures. The volatility in the Middle East is not new. In the midst of war and suffering, there continues to be an unprecedented demand for Scriptures – Now is the time for a renewed engagement with God’s Word for the youth across Europe and MENA, for the refugees healing from trauma, and for our Muslim friends seeking life’s answers and an alternative to the extreme expression of Islam they see around them.
Western Europe, where Protestant Christianity originated and Catholicism has been based for most of its history, has become one of the world’s most secular regions. Although the vast majority of adults say they were baptized, today many do not describe themselves as Christians.
For many, reading the Bible is a simple, daily activity, but for millions of individuals, accessing God’s Word can be a real struggle. It is estimated that 13.6 million people inside Syria are currently in need humanitarian assistance (over half of the total population). More than 6 million people are internally displaced, with another 5.2 million having fled to surrounding countries and Europe.

Bible Ministry in MENA/Eurasia
In Europe and the Middle East we have 24 translations, including, but not limited to, English, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Arabic, and Kurdish. We are currently working on Ukrainian and Turkish translations. In 2020, we released a new translation in Farsi, also known as Persian. Interesting fact: over 100 million people speak Farsi throughout Iran and Turkey, as well as central Asia and parts of Russia and Europe. We pray that the new Bible translations in these regions would speak to the new generations in their heart languages and bring about life transformation.
The church in Eastern Europe is experiencing a season of tremendous revival. We pray that this will provide a key opportunity to reach children and youth across the continent. Creating engaging Bible formats that encourage young people to interact with God’s Word individually and collectively in groups is vital for life change. The Reach4Life youth discipleship program is also very important throughout Europe and the Middle East with our contemporary Russian and Arabic texts.
Reaching unreached people with God’s Word throughout Europe and the Middle East is a huge task. Many are walking away from the Muslim faith and looking for answers. Others who left the church are now coming back. We pray for a revival in these regions, and for creativity to get the Bible and other resources to the people who need it most. In restricted countries like in the Middle East, our digital efforts are the primary method to reach people with God’s Word. By freely sharing our Arabic Bible online and equipping people with Scripture resources on social media and in audio formats through TV and radio programming, millions are hearing the truth of his Word and his love for them. In Europe, hope is being shared through God’s Word with the large numbers of refugees emigrating from dangerous situations in Africa and the Middle East.
