The Bible tells us that nothing is impossible with God. As evidence, it records the parting of the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21,22), the deliverance of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace (Daniel 3), the sun standing still (Joshua 10:13), and, of course, the greatest miracle of all: the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Mark 16).
But God’s miracles didn’t stop with the closing of the Canon of Scripture. He continues to do amazing and remarkable things today. Adar’s story is a testimony to that.
Adar grew up in Kyrgyzstan, a former Soviet republic located in Central Asia. More than 80% of the population is Muslim.
At the age of five, Adar’s family was, in his own words, “totally broken.” He was living on the streets, along with his brother, and his mother, who was sick with cancer. His father was a drug addict and alcoholic who refused to care for them.
It seemed like a situation without a solution. Until God intervened.
“One day, my father, he was walking in the street and entered a public toilet,” Adar explains. “At that time, Muslim people were using the Bible like toilet paper. In that place, he was trying to use this paper and he saw a message – a verse from the New Testament. It talked about the Kingdom of God coming.
“These powerful words really touched the heart of my father. When he read these verses, he said, ‘This book cannot be in a public toilet – this unrespected place.’ So he took the Bible home and read the rest of it.
“This was a New Testament. After that, he felt like he needed to know what happened before Jesus came. He found some believers and asked for [the whole] Bible. He read the Bible in two weeks and came to a point where he was asking, ‘Allah, if you really exist, do something with my life and my family.’
“And after that, after reading the whole Bible, he asked for Jesus. He said, ‘Jesus, I read all of this book, and in all the book I can see your power and I really want you to act in my life.’ And Jesus really acted! He took my father and totally changed his life.
“My father found me in the street, he brought me to church, and in the church, I really understood and saw the love of God.
“Today, my family, we are renewed. My father is a pastor, my mother was cured of cancer, and my family have become missionaries, planting churches in the south part of Kurdistan. I am working on planting a church too – I am a coordinator of the kids and youth at church and working with campus ministry too.
“I just want to say, what you are doing with the Bible, is really powerful. I feel it in my life. It can change lives. Thank you for your ministry.”
God’s power is at work through His Word, in remote places and in miraculous ways. He is using it to heal things that seem totally broken.
The Bible itself reminds us, “As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10,11).
