“…a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”Isaiah 61:3b
Darkness and evil cover our world. It’s impossible to go a day without hearing about some new atrocity. Murder, destruction, theft, slavery, and human trafficking are just a few of the horrors that plague our society. These issues break God’s heart and should also break ours. God desires to replace the ashes of destruction with a crown of beauty, to bring joy where there is mourning, and to clothe us in a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
While we cannot solve all the world’s problems, there are things we can do to help. By sharing the Good News found in God’s Word, we can partner with God to bring more people to salvation and offer the freedom that only He can provide.
In 2021, Biblica launched a beautiful program called Asha: Journey to Healing as a biblical healing resource in response to the overwhelming increase in human trafficking. Thousands of women in South Asia and beyond are finding help and healing after escaping abusive situations, thanks to this Bible-based course we’ve developed in partnership with experts.
In just a few short years, we’ve heard countless stories of how Asha is changing women’s lives. They are discovering their value in Christ and experiencing how He can bring joy even in the darkest situations. One Asha participant shared, “I have forgotten every sadness in my life when I found Jesus.” Amen! Jesus is the only One who can trade ashes for a crown, joy for mourning, and praise instead of despair.
You too can participate in God’s plan to set women free from terrible situations, to get the Word of God into every tribe and language, and to encourage others to know and love Jesus more deeply. As we see more distressing news stories, we encourage you to ask God how you can shine His glory in this world.
How can you get involved today?
- Pray for the global church as it brings the hope and comfort of God’s Word to suffering people facing extreme challenges.
- Love the people around you, and look for opportunities to show God’s love in your daily life.
- Give: Partner with us on a deeper level by sowing seeds into projects like Asha, helping to spread God’s Word and lead people to Jesus, where they can find true joy and healing.
Don’t be so overwhelmed by the world’s problems that it paralyzes you from taking action. Instead, seek the Lord and ask what you can do. We all play a part, and we need each other. God doesn’t expect us to do this alone. Let’s partner with Him and with each other to bring healing, freedom, and salvation to those who need it most.
