God's Word in Africa

Across Africa, economic growth over the past few years has been slower than experts anticipated. However, the population is projected to quadruple in just 90 years, with a growth rate that will make Africa more important than ever to the global economy.

  • The total population of Africa is estimated at 1.225 billion, representing 17% of the world’s population.

  • 41% of the population in Africa is below the age of 15.
  • Africa is the poorest continent on earth; 22 of the 28 poorest countries in the world are in Africa.

  • Even with 54 different countries, Africa has a lot of languages. It is estimated that between 1,500 and 2,000 languages are spoken here, many with their own set of varying dialects.

  • Diseases like HIV/AIDS are leaving children orphaned and in charge of their households at very young ages. An estimated 50 million orphans live in Africa.

For the rising generations who are asking if they matter; the persecuted wondering who will hear their cries; and our Muslim friends facing questions and fears; all are searching for answers that no one or thing can address like God’s Word.

So All Will Know...

Our three part strategy at work in Africa.

Gateway Translations

Throughout the 54 countries of Africa, there are nearly 2000 languages spoken here. Millions in Africa are without The Word. Others only have access to outdated and archaic translations. Our team of translators are planning to release 7 new contemporary BIble translations in Africa in 2020. But it’s not just about distributing a printed Bible. These new translations from Ethiopia to Ghana, Nigeria to Malawi, Uganda to Zimbabwe are also being made available in audio and digital formats, accessible even with entry-level mobile devices so that all people in Africa can engage with the life-transforming Word of God.

Rising Generations

Africa’s population is very young. Over 40% is below the age of 15. As this next generation comes up, we are working hard to reach them with God’s Word in easy to read formats. Reach4Life is a dynamic youth Bible resource discipleship program that was started in Southern Africa over 15 years ago. Since then over 2 million youth have gone through the program. Today, Reach4Life is a global effort and expanding into more African countries each year. Our prayer is that 400,000 youth would be transformed by God’s Word in 2020.

Frontline Church

The Church is God’s primary agent to reach those on the edges of society. In Africa, war, poverty, and disease have threatened large populations of people. They are Now is the time to equip leaders and mobilizers in Africa with the resources to reach those who have never heard The Word. We are partnering with church planters to serve rural communities, and ministering to the persecuted in refugee camps, we are providing Bibles to the imprisoned, and sharing the hope of God’s Word with our Muslim brothers and sisters. May the Church in Africa rise up!
