Concerning Spiritual Gifts
1Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
4There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,12:10 Or languages; also in verse 28 and to still another the interpretation of tongues.12:10 Or languages; also in verse 28 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
Unity and Diversity in the Body
12Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13For we were all baptized by12:13 Or with; or in one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
15Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues12:30 Or other languages? Do all interpret? 31Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.

And yet I will show you the most excellent way.
Los dones espirituales
1En cuanto a los dones espirituales, hermanos, quiero que entiendan bien este asunto. 2Ustedes saben que cuando eran paganos se dejaban arrastrar hacia los ídolos mudos. 3Por eso les advierto que nadie que esté hablando por el Espíritu de Dios puede maldecir a Jesús; ni nadie puede decir: «Jesús es el Señor» sino por el Espíritu Santo.
4Ahora bien, hay diversos dones, pero un mismo Espíritu. 5Hay diversas maneras de servir, pero un mismo Señor. 6Hay diversas funciones, pero es un mismo Dios el que hace todas las cosas en todos.
7A cada uno se le da una manifestación especial del Espíritu para el bien de los demás. 8A unos Dios da por el Espíritu palabra de sabiduría; a otros, por el mismo Espíritu, palabra de conocimiento; 9a otros, fe por medio del mismo Espíritu; a otros, y por ese mismo Espíritu, dones para sanar enfermos; 10a otros, poderes milagrosos; a otros, profecía; a otros, el discernir espíritus; a otros, el hablar en diversas lenguas; y a otros, el interpretar lenguas. 11Todo esto lo hace un mismo y único Espíritu, quien reparte a cada uno según él lo determina.
Un cuerpo con muchos miembros
12De hecho, aunque el cuerpo es uno solo, tiene muchos miembros y todos los miembros, no obstante ser muchos, forman un solo cuerpo. Así sucede con Cristo. 13Todos fuimos bautizados por12:13 por. Alt. con, o en. un solo Espíritu para constituir un solo cuerpo —ya seamos judíos o no, esclavos o libres—, y a todos se nos dio a beber de un mismo Espíritu.
14Ahora bien, el cuerpo no consta de un solo miembro, sino de muchos. 15Si el pie dijera: «Como no soy mano, no soy del cuerpo», no por eso dejaría de ser parte del cuerpo. 16Y si la oreja dijera: «Como no soy ojo, no soy del cuerpo», no por eso dejaría de ser parte del cuerpo. 17Si todo el cuerpo fuera ojo, ¿qué sería del oído? Si todo el cuerpo fuera oído, ¿qué sería del olfato? 18En realidad, Dios colocó cada miembro del cuerpo como mejor le pareció. 19Si todos ellos fueran un solo miembro, ¿qué sería del cuerpo? 20Lo cierto es que hay muchos miembros, pero el cuerpo es uno solo.
21El ojo no puede decirle a la mano: «No te necesito». Ni puede la cabeza decirles a los pies: «No los necesito». 22Al contrario, los miembros del cuerpo que parecen más débiles son indispensables, 23y a los que nos parecen menos honrosos los tratamos con honra especial. Además, se trata con especial modestia a los miembros que nos parecen menos presentables, 24mientras que los más presentables no requieren trato especial. Así Dios ha dispuesto los miembros de nuestro cuerpo, dando mayor honra a los que menos tenían, 25a fin de que no haya división en el cuerpo, sino que sus miembros se preocupen por igual unos por otros. 26Si uno de los miembros sufre, los demás comparten su sufrimiento; y si uno de ellos recibe honor, los demás se alegran con él.
27Ahora bien, ustedes son el cuerpo de Cristo y cada uno es miembro de ese cuerpo. 28En la iglesia Dios ha puesto, en primer lugar, apóstoles; en segundo lugar, profetas; en tercer lugar, maestros; luego los que hacen milagros; después los que tienen dones para sanar enfermos, los que ayudan a otros, los que administran y los que hablan en diversas lenguas. 29¿Son todos apóstoles? ¿Son todos profetas? ¿Son todos maestros? ¿Hacen todos milagros? 30¿Tienen todos dones para sanar enfermos? ¿Hablan todos en lenguas? ¿Acaso interpretan todos? 31Ustedes, por su parte, ambicionen12:31 ambicionen. Alt. ambicionan. los mejores dones.
