Psalm 106
1Praise the Lord.106:1 Hebrew Hallelu Yah; also in verse 48
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
2Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord
or fully declare his praise?
3Blessed are those who act justly,
who always do what is right.
4Remember me, Lord, when you show favor to your people,
come to my aid when you save them,
5that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones,
that I may share in the joy of your nation
and join your inheritance in giving praise.
6We have sinned, even as our ancestors did;
we have done wrong and acted wickedly.
7When our ancestors were in Egypt,
they gave no thought to your miracles;
they did not remember your many kindnesses,
and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.106:7 Or the Sea of Reeds; also in verses 9 and 22
8Yet he saved them for his name’s sake,
to make his mighty power known.
9He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up;
he led them through the depths as through a desert.
10He saved them from the hand of the foe;
from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.
11The waters covered their adversaries;
not one of them survived.
12Then they believed his promises
and sang his praise.
13But they soon forgot what he had done
and did not wait for his plan to unfold.
14In the desert they gave in to their craving;
in the wilderness they put God to the test.
15So he gave them what they asked for,
but sent a wasting disease among them.
16In the camp they grew envious of Moses
and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the Lord.
17The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan;
it buried the company of Abiram.
18Fire blazed among their followers;
a flame consumed the wicked.
19At Horeb they made a calf
and worshiped an idol cast from metal.
20They exchanged their glorious God
for an image of a bull, which eats grass.
21They forgot the God who saved them,
who had done great things in Egypt,
22miracles in the land of Ham
and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
23So he said he would destroy them—
had not Moses, his chosen one,
stood in the breach before him
to keep his wrath from destroying them.
24Then they despised the pleasant land;
they did not believe his promise.
25They grumbled in their tents
and did not obey the Lord.
26So he swore to them with uplifted hand
that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
27make their descendants fall among the nations
and scatter them throughout the lands.
28They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor
and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;
29they aroused the Lord’s anger by their wicked deeds,
and a plague broke out among them.
30But Phinehas stood up and intervened,
and the plague was checked.
31This was credited to him as righteousness
for endless generations to come.
32By the waters of Meribah they angered the Lord,
and trouble came to Moses because of them;
33for they rebelled against the Spirit of God,
and rash words came from Moses’ lips.106:33 Or against his spirit, / and rash words came from his lips
34They did not destroy the peoples
as the Lord had commanded them,
35but they mingled with the nations
and adopted their customs.
36They worshiped their idols,
which became a snare to them.
37They sacrificed their sons
and their daughters to false gods.
38They shed innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and the land was desecrated by their blood.
39They defiled themselves by what they did;
by their deeds they prostituted themselves.
40Therefore the Lord was angry with his people
and abhorred his inheritance.
41He gave them into the hands of the nations,
and their foes ruled over them.
42Their enemies oppressed them
and subjected them to their power.
43Many times he delivered them,
but they were bent on rebellion
and they wasted away in their sin.
44Yet he took note of their distress
when he heard their cry;
45for their sake he remembered his covenant
and out of his great love he relented.
46He caused all who held them captive
to show them mercy.
47Save us, Lord our God,
and gather us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name
and glory in your praise.
48Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.
Let all the people say, “Amen!”

106:1,47-48 – 1Cr 16:34-36
1¡Aleluya!
Den gracias al Señor porque él es bueno;
su gran amor perdura para siempre.
2¿Quién puede proclamar las proezas del Señor
o expresar toda su alabanza?
3Dichosos los que practican la justicia
y hacen siempre lo que es justo.
4Acuérdate de mí, Señor, cuando muestres tu bondad a tu pueblo;
ven en mi ayuda el día de tu salvación,
5para que yo pueda disfrutar del bienestar de tus escogidos,
participar de la alegría de tu pueblo
y expresar mis alabanzas con tu heredad.
6Hemos pecado, lo mismo que nuestros antepasados;
hemos hecho lo malo y actuado con iniquidad.
7Cuando nuestros antepasados estaban en Egipto,
no tomaron en cuenta tus maravillas,
no recordaron la inmensidad de tu gran amor
y se rebelaron junto al mar, el mar Rojo.106:7 Lit. mar de las Cañas. Término con el que se designa en la Biblia al mar Rojo en su parte septentrional; también en vv. 9 y 22.
8Pero Dios los salvó, haciendo honor a su nombre,
para mostrar su gran poder.
9Reprendió al mar Rojo y este quedó seco;
los condujo por las profundidades del mar como si cruzaran el desierto.
10Los salvó del poder de quienes los odiaban;
los rescató del poder de sus enemigos.
11Las aguas envolvieron a sus adversarios
y ninguno de estos quedó con vida.
12Entonces ellos creyeron en sus promesas
y le entonaron alabanzas.
13Pero muy pronto olvidaron sus acciones
y no esperaron a conocer sus planes.
14En el desierto cedieron a sus propios deseos;
en los páramos pusieron a prueba a Dios.
15Y él les dio lo que pidieron,
pero les envió una enfermedad devastadora.
16En el campamento tuvieron envidia de Moisés
y de Aarón, el que estaba consagrado al Señor.
17Se abrió la tierra y se tragó a Datán;
sepultó a los seguidores de Abirán.
18Un fuego devoró a ese grupo;
las llamas consumieron a los malvados.
19En Horeb hicieron un becerro;
se postraron ante un ídolo de fundición.
20Cambiaron a quien era su gloria
por la imagen de un toro que come hierba.
21Se olvidaron del Dios que los salvó
y que había hecho grandes cosas en Egipto:
22milagros en la tierra de Cam
y maravillas asombrosas junto al mar Rojo.
23Dios amenazó con destruirlos,
pero no lo hizo por Moisés, su escogido,
quien se puso ante él en la brecha
e impidió que su ira los destruyera.
24Despreciaron una tierra apetecible;
no creyeron en la promesa de Dios.
25Murmuraron en sus tiendas de campaña
y no obedecieron al Señor.
26Por tanto, él juró solemnemente con su mano en alto contra ellos
para hacerlos caer en el desierto,
27para hacer caer a sus descendientes entre las naciones
y dispersarlos entre los países.
28Se sometieron al yugo de Baal Peor
y comieron sacrificios a los muertos.
29Provocaron la ira del Señor con sus malvadas acciones
y les sobrevino una plaga.
30Pero Finés se levantó e intervino,
y la plaga se detuvo.
31Esto se le acreditó como un acto de justicia
para siempre, por todas las generaciones.
32Junto a las aguas de Meribá hicieron enojar al Señor.
Y a Moisés le fue mal por culpa de ellos,
33porque se rebelaron contra el Espíritu de Dios106:33 contra … de Dios. Alt. contra su espíritu.
y Moisés habló sin pensar lo que decía.
34No destruyeron a los pueblos
que el Señor les había señalado,
35sino que se mezclaron con los paganos
y adoptaron sus costumbres.
36Rindieron culto a sus ídolos
que fueron una trampa para ellos.
37Ofrecieron a sus hijos y a sus hijas
como sacrificio a esos demonios.
38Derramaron sangre inocente,
la sangre de sus hijos y sus hijas.
Al ofrecerlos en sacrificio a los ídolos de Canaán,
su sangre derramada contaminó la tierra.
39Se hicieron impuros por esos hechos;
se prostituyeron con sus acciones.
40La ira del Señor se encendió contra su pueblo;
su heredad le resultó aborrecible.
41Por eso los entregó a los paganos
y fueron dominados por quienes los odiaban.
42Sus enemigos los oprimieron,
los sometieron a su poder.
43Muchas veces Dios los libró;
pero ellos se obstinaron en su rebeldía
y se hundieron en su iniquidad.
44Al verlos angustiados
y escuchar su clamor,
45Dios se acordó del pacto que había hecho con ellos
y por su gran amor les tuvo compasión.
46Hizo que todos sus opresores
también se apiadaran de ellos.
47¡Sálvanos, Señor, Dios nuestro!
Vuelve a reunirnos de entre las naciones,
para que demos gracias a tu santo nombre
y alabarte sea nuestra gloria.
48¡Bendito sea el Señor, el Dios de Israel,
eternamente y para siempre!
Que todo el pueblo diga: «¡Amén!».
