Psalmul 104
1Suflete al meu, binecuvântează‑L pe Domnul!
Doamne, Dumnezeul meu, Tu ești nemărginit de mare!
Tu ești îmbrăcat cu splendoare și măreție!
2Tu Te învelești cu lumina ca și cu o manta;
Tu întinzi cerurile ca pe un cort,
3și pui grinzile odăilor Tale de sus pe ape.
Din nori Îți faci car
și umbli pe aripile vântului.
4El îi face pe îngerii Săi duhuri4 Sau: vânturi.
și pe slujitorii Săi – un foc arzător.
5Tu ai statornicit pământul pe temeliile lui,
ca să nu se clatine niciodată.
6L‑ai acoperit cu adâncul ca și cu o haină.
Apele stăteau pe munți,
7dar la mustrarea Ta au fugit,
la bubuitul tunetului Tău au luat‑o la fugă.
8S‑au scurs de pe munți, au coborât în văi,
în locul pe care l‑ai hotărât pentru ele.
9Le‑ai pus un hotar peste care nu au voie să treacă,
ca să nu se întoarcă și să acopere pământul.
10Tu faci să țâșnească izvoarele în albii uscate10 Lit.: ueduri. Vale sau albie de râu secată, situată într‑un ținut arid, care acumulează apele de pe versanți în timpul sezonului ploios, creând un pârâu temporar.
și ele curg printre munți.
11Toate vietățile câmpului se adapă din ele
și măgarii sălbatici își potolesc setea acolo.
12Pe malul lor își fac cuibul păsările cerului
care‑și fac auzit glasul din frunziș.
13Din odăile de sus, Tu uzi munții;
pământul se satură de rodul lucrărilor Tale.
14Tu faci să crească iarbă pentru vite
și verdețuri pe care omul să le cultive.
Faci să iasă hrană din pământ:
15vin care înveselește inima omului,
ulei care dă strălucire feței
și pâine care întărește inima omului.
16Copacii Domnului sunt bine udați,
cedrii Libanului pe care El i‑a sădit.
17În ei își fac cuibul păsările;
barza își are casa în chiparoși.
18Munții cei înalți sunt ai țapilor sălbatici,
iar stâncile sunt un adăpost pentru viezurii de stâncă.18 Sau: pentru bursuci.
19El a făcut luna să arate vremurile,
iar soarele știe când să apună.
20Tu aduci întunericul și se face noapte;
atunci toate vietățile pădurii încep să mișune.
21Puii de leu rag după pradă,
cerându‑și hrana de la Dumnezeu.
22Când răsare soarele, se adună
și se culcă în vizuinile lor.
23Atunci iese omul la lucrul lui,
la munca lui – până seara.
24Ce multe sunt lucrările Tale, Doamne!
Pe toate le‑ai făcut cu înțelepciune;
pământul este plin de vietățile24 Sau: posesiunile. Tale.
25Iată marea cât de încăpătoare și de întinsă este!
Acolo mișună vietăți fără număr,
viețuitoare mici și mari.
26Corăbiile o străbat,
în ea se joacă Leviatanul26 Sensul termenului ebraic este nesigur. Din câte se pare, termenul este folosit în VT atât cu referire la mitologia canaanită, desemnând un monstru marin (Is. 27:1; Iov 3:8; Ps. 74:14), cât și în sens literal (în versetul de față; Iov 41:1), făcând referire la o specie de animal marin, impresionantă și de temut, de al cărei corespondent modern nu putem fi siguri.,

27Toate nădăjduiesc în Tine
ca să le dai hrana la vreme.
28Când Tu le‑o dai, ele o primesc;
când Tu Îți deschizi mâna, ele se satură de bunătăți.
29Când Îți ascunzi fața, ele se îngrozesc;
când le iei suflarea, ele mor
și se întorc în țărână.
30Când Îți trimiți Duhul30 Sau: suflarea., ele sunt create,
înnoind astfel fața pământului.
31Fie ca slava Domnului să rămână pe vecie!
Domnul să Se bucure de lucrările Sale,
32El, Care atunci când privește pământul, acesta se cutremură,
iar când atinge munții, aceștia fumegă.
33Voi cânta Domnului cât voi trăi!
Voi cânta spre lauda Dumnezeului meu cât voi fi!
34Fie‑I plăcută cugetarea mea!
Eu mă voi bucura în Domnul.
35Să piară păcătoșii de pe pământ,
și cei răi să nu mai fie!
Suflete al meu, binecuvântează‑L pe Domnul!

1Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
2Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
3Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
4Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

6Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
7At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
8They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.104.8 They go up…: or, The mountains ascend, the valleys descend
9Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
10He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.104.10 He: Heb. Who104.10 run: Heb. walk
11They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.104.11 quench: Heb. break
12By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.104.12 sing: Heb. give a voice
13He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
14He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
15And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.104.15 oil…: Heb. to make his face shine with oil, or, more than oil
16The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
17Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
18The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
19He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
20Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.104.20 beasts…: Heb. beasts thereof do trample on the forest
21The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.
22The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
23Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
24O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
25So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
26There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.104.26 made: Heb. formed
27These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
28That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
29Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
30Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
31The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.104.31 endure: Heb. be
32He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
33I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
34My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
35Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
