1主は人をだます者を憎み、正直な人を愛します。
2高慢な人は恥をかきますが、
謙遜な人は知恵を身につけます。
3正しい人は誠実に歩み、
悪人は不正直なために破滅します。
4財産さえあれば大丈夫と高をくくってはいけません。
さばきの日には、
正しく生きる人だけが救われるのです。
5正しい人は正直に生き、
悪人は犯した罪の重さに耐えられず、
ついには押しつぶされてしまいます。
6正しく生きる人の身は安全ですが、
裏切り者はいつかは破滅します。
7悪人はこの世のことしか考えないので、
死んでしまえば希望もなくなります。
8神は正しい人を危険な場所から助け出し、
代わりに悪者をその場所へ投げ込まれます。
9悪人のことばは破壊し、
正しい人の知識は建て直します。
10正しい人が成功すると町中が祝い、
罪深い人が死ぬとみな大喜びします。
11神を信じる市民が良い影響を与えているうちは
町は栄え、
悪者たちによって道徳が腐敗すると、
町はたちまち衰えます。
12隣近所とけんかをするほど愚かなことはありません。
賢い人は不必要なことは話しません。
13おしゃべりな人は根も葉もないことを言いふらし、
信頼できる人はうわさ話を口にしません。
14良い指導者がいなければ国民は苦しみ、
良い助言をする人がいれば国は安泰です。
15保証人になる時は相手をよく見なさい。
あとで苦しむより、初めから断るほうが賢明です。
16親切で優しい女は良い評判を得、
横暴な男は富を得ようとします。
17人に親切にすると心が豊かになり、
思いやりのないことをすると気持ちがすさみます。
18悪いことをしてもうけた金はすぐになくなり、
正しいことをして得た報酬はいつまでも残ります。
19正しい人は生きる意味を見つけ、
悪人はただむなしく死んでいきます。
20心の曲がった者を主はきらいます。
主が喜ぶのは正しい人です。
21悪人はいつか必ず罰せられます。
しかし、神は正しい人の子孫をいつか必ず救います。
22美人でも浅はかで慎みがない女性は、
まるで豚の鼻にかかった金の輪のようなものです。
23正しい人は幸せを望み見、
悪者の望みは怒りを招きます。
24-25惜しげなく人に施しても、
ますます金持ちになる人もあれば、
財布のひもを固く締めても、
一文無しになる人もいます。
物惜しみしない人が裕福になります。
人を潤すことで、自分も潤うのです。
26値上がりするまで穀物を売り惜しみする者は恨まれ、
みなが困っているときに
それを売りに出す人は喜ばれます。
27良いことをしようとひたすら努力する人は神に愛され、
悪いことばかりに熱中する者はきらわれます。
28お金に頼ると失敗します。
神に頼れば、若木がすくすく成長するように、
すべてのことがうまくいきます。
29家族を怒らせるような愚か者は、
やがて大事なものまでもなくし、
ついには知恵ある人の使用人になりさがります。
30神を信じる人はいのちの実のなる木を育て、
知恵ある人は人のたましいを破滅から救います。
31神を信じる人がこの世で報われるとすれば、
神に逆らう者が相応の報いを受けるのは当然です。

10When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting. 11By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
