1人の言うことを聞く気がある人は、
知識を得ることができます。
叱責に耳をふさぐ者は愚か者です。
2主は正しい人を祝福し、悪人を罰します。
3悪いことをして成功する者はいません。
成功するのは正しい人だけです。
4良い妻は夫の誇り。
悪い妻は夫に肩身のせまい思いをさせ、
事ごとに足を引っ張ります。
5正しい人の考えは正直一筋ですが、
悪人はうそと偽りでこり固まっています。
6悪人は人を責め、神を恐れる人は人をかばいます。
7悪人の家は必ず滅び、
正しい人の家は最後まで存続します。
8見識のある人は、だれからも称賛され、
ひねくれ者はみんなに軽蔑されます。
9高慢で働きもせず、食べるにも事欠くより、
目立たない仕事でもまじめに働き、
食にありつくほうがまさっています。
10正しい人は自分の家畜にまで細かく気を配ります。
しかし神を恐れない人は、
うわべは親切そうでも思いやりがありません。
11こつこつ働けば生活は楽になります。
怠けて遊んでいるのは愚か者だけです。
12曲がった者は仲間の分け前まで欲しがり、
正しい人は自分の物をなげうってでも人を助けます。
13うそをつくとあとで苦しみますが、
正直者にはそんな心配はありません。
14ほんとうのことを言う人も、
こつこつ働く人も必ず報われます。
15愚か者は忠告を無視し、
知恵ある人は人のことばに耳を傾けます。
16愚か者はすぐ怒り、
知恵ある人は侮辱されても冷静です。
17正しい人かどうかは正直さでわかり、
不誠実な人はうそと欺きでわかります。
18批評好きは人を傷つけますが、
知恵ある人のことばは慰め、いやします。
19真実はいつまでも変わらず、
うそで塗り固めたものはすぐにはがれ落ちます。
20悪いことを企む者は、
人をだますことで頭がいっぱいです。
しかし、良いことをする人は、
いつも喜びに満たされています。
21正しい人はどんな災いにも会わず、
悪者には苦しみがつきまといます。
22主は約束を守る人を愛しますが、
約束を破る人はきらいです。
23知恵ある人は知っていても黙っていますが、
愚か者は言いふらして、愚かさをさらけ出します。
24勤勉な人は指導者になり、
怠け者はいつまでたっても成功しません。
25どんなに沈んでいる人も、
励ましのひと言で心が軽くなります。
26正しい人は友の助言を求めますが、
悪者は軽率に突き進んで失敗します。
27無精者は、捕らえた獲物を料理するのも面倒がります。
しかし勤勉な人は、見つけた物は少しもむだにせず、
うまく利用します。
28神を信じる人はいのちの道を歩いているので、
死を恐れることがありません。
