Biblica was founded in 1809 as the New York Bible Society with a commitment to reach the community of New York and the surrounding area with the hope of God's Word. The mission in 1809 read, "... extending the knowledge of the Holy Scripture ... persuaded that a more extensive distribution among persons who are destitute of them will have by the divine blessing more beneficial effects."
While the ministry of Biblica has changed much in nearly 200 years, the mission of providing Scriptures to those in need has remained. Throughout the history of the ministry, scores of initiatives have provided the Word of God to more than 650 million people in virtually every cross-section of society worldwide.
