1Này dân tộc không biết xấu hổ,
hãy tập họp, nhóm hội nghị.
2Tập hợp trước thời điểm,2:2 Nt sinh ra
ngày giờ chưa bay đi như trấu.
Trước khi cơn thịnh nộ dữ dội của Chúa Hằng Hữu
đổ trên các ngươi.
3Hãy tìm kiếm Chúa Hằng Hữu, hỡi những ai nhu mì
đang theo2:3 Nt làm công lý Ngài.
Hãy tìm kiếm sự công chính,
tìm kiếm đức nhu mì.
Có lẽ Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ bảo vệ các ngươi—
trong ngày thịnh nộ của Ngài.
Trừng Phạt Phi-li-tin
4Vì Ga-xa2:4 Tên các thành phố lớn xứ Phi-li-tin sẽ bị bỏ hoang, Ách-ca-lôn2:4 Tên các thành phố lớn xứ Phi-li-tin điêu tàn,
người Ách-đốt2:4 Tên các thành phố lớn xứ Phi-li-tin sẽ bị trục xuất giữa trưa
và Éc-rôn2:4 Tên các thành phố lớn xứ Phi-li-tin bị nhổ tận gốc.
5Khốn cho dân cư miền duyên hải,
khốn cho dân tộc Kê-rết!2:5 Nt cherethi
Hỡi Ca-na-an là đất của người Phi-li-tin,
Chúa đang lên án ngươi!
Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ tiêu diệt ngươi
đến nỗi không còn lại một ai cả.
6Miền duyên hải sẽ thành ra đồng cỏ,
nơi mục tử chăn nuôi gia súc
sẽ làm chuồng cho bầy chiên.
7Miền duyên hải ấy dành cho dân còn lại của đại tộc Giu-đa,
họ sẽ chăn nuôi gia súc tại đó.
Họ sẽ nằm ngủ ban đêm
trong các ngôi nhà ở Ách-ca-lôn.
Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của họ,
sẽ thăm viếng họ và đem dân lưu đày về nước.
Trừng Phạt Mô-áp và Am-môn
8Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên phán:
“Ta đã nghe lời chửi rủa của Mô-áp
và tiếng nguyền rủa của Am-môn,
chúng chửi mắng dân Ta
và khoe khoang về biên cương nới rộng.
9Vì thế, thật như Ta hằng sống,
Mô-áp sẽ giống như Sô-đôm,
người Am-môn sẽ giống như người Gô-mô-rơ.
Đất của chúng sẽ biến thành nơi đầy gai gốc,
có nhiều hầm muối và mãi mãi điêu tàn.
Những người sống sót của dân Ta sẽ phá hoại chúng;
dân còn lại sẽ được đất nước chúng làm sản nghiệp.”
10Chúng sẽ bị báo ứng vì tội kiêu ngạo
và vì chúng đã rủa sả dân Ta,
tự tôn tự đại đối với dân của Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân.
11Chúng sẽ khiếp sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu,
vì Ngài sẽ tiêu diệt tất cả thần trên đất.
Mọi dân sống trong khắp thế giới2:11 Nt của các nước sẽ thờ lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu
tại chỗ mình ở.
Trừng Phạt Ê-thi-ô-pi và A-sy-ri
12Chúa Hằng Hữu phán:
“Chính ngươi, Ê-thi-ô-pi, sẽ bị gươm Ta đâm suốt.”
13Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ vươn tay đánh về phương bắc,2:13 Có bản ghi: phương Nam
tiêu diệt A-sy-ri và tàn phá Ni-ni-ve,
nó sẽ điêu tàn, khô cằn như sa mạc.
14Các bầy gia súc và thú rừng trong đất nước
sẽ nằm nghỉ giữa thành quách lâu đài.
Bồ nông và con vạc làm tổ trên đầu
các cây cột trong cung điện.
Tiếng chim hót vang qua cửa sổ, cảnh đổ nát trải ra nơi ngạch cửa,
vì cột kèo chạm trỗ bằng gỗ tuyết tùng
đã bị Chúa phơi trần.
15Thành phố này đã từng sống điềm nhiên và tự nhủ:
“Ta đây, ngoài ta không còn ai cả!”
Thế mà bây giờ chỉ còn cảnh điêu tàn hoang phế,
làm chỗ cho thú rừng nằm nghỉ.
Ai đi ngang qua đều khoa tay, nhạo cười.

4¶ For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up. 5Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant. 6And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks. 7And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.2.7 for the LORD: or, when, etc
8¶ I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border. 9Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them. 10This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts. 11The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.2.11 famish: Heb. make lean
12¶ Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword. 13And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness. 14And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.2.14 cormorant: or, pelican2.14 upper…: or, knops, or, chapiters2.14 for…: or, when he hath uncovered 15This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
