Bara Herren kan rädda sitt folk
1Men nu säger Herren,
han som har skapat dig, Jakob,
han som har format dig, Israel:
”Var inte rädd,
för jag har befriat dig.
Jag har kallat dig vid namn,
och du är min.
2När du måste gå genom vatten
är jag med dig,
eller genom floder,
ska de inte dränka dig.
När du måste gå genom eld,
ska du inte bli bränd.
Lågorna ska inte skada dig.
3Jag är Herren, din Gud,
Israels helige, din räddare.
Jag ger Egypten till lösen för dig,
och Kush och Seba i utbyte.
4Du är dyrbar för mig,
och jag ärar och älskar dig.
Därför ger jag människor i utbyte mot dig,
folk i stället för ditt liv.
5Var inte rädd, för jag är med dig.
Jag ska leda dina barn från öster
och samla dig från väster.
6Till norden säger jag: ’Släpp dem!’
och till södern: ’Håll dem inte kvar!’
För hit mina söner från fjärran
och mina döttrar från jordens ände,
7alla som bekänner mitt namn
och som jag har skapat till min ära,
format och gjort.”
8Led ut de blinda som ändå har ögon,
och de döva som har öron.
9Alla nationer samlas,
folken kommer samman.
Vem bland dem har kunnat förutsäga detta,
eller tala om för oss vad som förut har skett?
Låt dem föra fram sina vittnen, så att de får rätt,
och de som hör kan säga att det är sant.
10”Men ni är mina vittnen, säger Herren,
min tjänare som jag har utvalt,
för att ni ska känna och tro mig
och förstå att jag är Gud.
Ingen annan Gud finns gestaltad före mig,
och ingen kommer att finnas efter mig.
11Jag är Herren,
och det finns ingen annan räddare.
12Det är jag som har uppenbarat, räddat och förkunnat,
ingen främmande gud bland er.
Ni är mina vittnen,” säger Herren, ”och jag är Gud.
13Ja, ända från första dagen.
Ingen kan rycka något ur min hand.
När jag handlar,
finns ingen som kan hindra det.”
Löfte om seger
14Så säger Herren,
er befriare43:14 Se 4 Mos 35:12 med not., Israels Helige:
”För er skull har jag sänt bud till Babylon
och ska bryta ner dem alla, som ingenting,
även kaldéerna, i de skepp de varit så stolta över.43:14 Grundtexten är svårförståelig och översättningen osäker.
15Jag är Herren, er Helige,
Israels skapare, er kung.”
16Så säger Herren,
som gjorde en väg genom havet,
en stig genom mäktiga vatten,
17han som förde ut vagnar och hästar
och en stark armé.
Där blev de liggande för att aldrig resa sig igen,
utsläckta, som en släckt veke.
18”Glöm det som har varit,
bli inte kvar i det förgångna.
19Nu gör jag något nytt.
Det spirar redan, ser ni det inte?
Jag ska göra en väg genom öknen
och strömmar i ödemarken.
20De vilda djuren, schakaler och berguvar, ska prisa mig,
för av mig får öknen vatten
så att mitt folk, mina utvalda, kan dricka.
21Det folk som jag har skapat åt mig
ska förkunna mitt lov.
22Men du har inte kallat på mig, Jakob,
inte tröttat ut dig för min skull, Israel.43:22 Eller: …du har tröttnat på mig, Israel. Här har översättningen hämtat hjälp från Septuaginta och Vulgata.
23Du har inte gett mig får som brännoffer
och inte ärat mig med slaktoffer.
Ändå har jag inte betungat dig med matoffer,
inte tröttat ut dig med krav på rökelse.
24Du har inte köpt kalmus åt mig
eller slösat dina slaktoffers fett på mig.
Nej, du har betungat mig med dina synder,
tröttat ut mig med dina överträdelser.
25Jag är den som utplånar dina försyndelser,
för min egen skull,
och jag kommer inte mer ihåg dina synder.
26Påminn mig,
låt oss gå till rätta med varandra!
Lägg fram din sak,
så att du kan få rätt.
27Din stamfader syndade,
dina talesmän gjorde uppror mot mig.
28Därför har jag förnedrat dina heliga furstar,
överlämnat Jakob åt förintelse
och Israel åt att skymfas.

18¶ Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. 19Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. 20The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.43.20 owls: or, ostriches: Heb. daughters of the owl 21This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.
22¶ But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. 23Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices.
