Profeție împotriva lui Cuș
1Vai de tine, țară în care se aude fâlfâit de aripi1 Sau: zumzet de lăcuste.,
țară de dincolo de râurile lui Cuș1 Vezi nota de la 11:11.,
2care‑ți trimiți mesagerii pe calea apei,
în corăbii de papirus!
Duceți‑vă, mesageri iuți!
Duceți‑vă la un neam înalt și cu pielea netedă,
la un popor de temut, atât în preajma lui, cât și în depărtări,
la un neam puternic2, 7 Ebr.: qav‑qav, sintagmă care, în contextul de față, desemnează, probabil, o națiune (1) care obișnuia să subjuge, sau (2) care vorbea o limbă de neînțeles. și cuceritor,
a cărei țară este străbătută de râuri!
3Voi toți, locuitori ai lumii,
toți care sălășluiți pe pământ,
când se ridică steagul pe munți, să vă uitați,
iar când sună trâmbița3 Ebr.: șofar, un instrument de suflat făcut din corn de berbec (ebr.: yyobel), care nu avea o funcție muzicală, ci era folosit pentru a transmite anumite semnale în închinare, în adunările publice sau în război., să ascultați!
4Căci Domnul mi‑a vorbit astfel:
„Eu voi sta liniștit și voi privi din locul șederii Mele;
voi fi ca o adiere fierbinte în lumina soarelui
și ca un nor de rouă în căldura secerișului.“
5Căci înainte de seceriș, când mugurele s‑a dus,
iar floarea a devenit strugure copt,
El va tăia mlădițele cu ajutorul cosoarelor
și va îndepărta vlăstarii, îi va reteza.
6Toți vor fi lăsați
păsărilor de pradă din munți
și animalelor sălbatice.
Păsările de pradă își vor petrece vara pe ei
și toate animalele sălbatice vor ierna pe ei.
7În vremea aceea, un popor înalt și cu pielea netedă, de temut atât în preajma lui, cât și în depărtări, un neam puternic și cuceritor, a cărei țară este străbătută de râuri, va aduce un dar Domnului Oștirilor la muntele Sion, locul Numelui Domnului Oștirilor.
