Psalm 3In Hebrew texts 3:1-8 is numbered 3:2-9.
A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.
1Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.”3:2 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verses 4 and 8.
3But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
4I call out to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain.
5I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
6I will not fear though tens of thousands
assail me on every side.
7Arise, Lord!
Deliver me, my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
8From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.

Salmo de David. Quando fugiu de Absalão, seu filho.
1Senhor, são muitos os que estão contra mim!
São muitos os que procuram fazer-me mal!
2Muitos dizem que Deus nunca me salvará. (Pausa)3.2 O texto hebraico acrescenta aqui a palavra selah que pode ser uma indicação musical litúrgica para uma pausa, repetição ou mudança de voz. Aparece 71 vezes em 39 dos salmos, mas o seu real significado é desconhecido.
3Mas tu, Senhor, és o meu escudo protetor,
a minha glória, a minha única esperança.
Só tu podes erguer a minha cabeça.
4Chamei o Senhor e ele ouviu-me da sua santa habitação. (Pausa)
5Então deitei-me, dormi em paz e acordei em segurança,
porque o Senhor estava a vigiar sobre mim.
6Ainda que dez mil adversários se levantem de todos os lados,
e me cerquem, não terei medo.
7“Levanta-te, Senhor!
Salva-me, meu Deus!”
Pois tu feres todos os meus inimigos
e aos maus partes os dentes.
8A salvação vem de ti, Senhor;
a tua bênção está sobre o teu povo! (Pausa)
