Psalm 86
A prayer of David.
1Lord, hear me and answer me.
I am poor and needy.
2Keep my life safe, because I am faithful to you.
Save me, because I trust in you.
You are my God.
3Lord, have mercy on me.
I call out to you all day long.
4Bring joy to me.
Lord, I put my trust in you.
5Lord, you are forgiving and good.
You are full of love for all who call out to you.
6Lord, hear my prayer.
Listen to my cry for mercy.
7When I’m in trouble, I will call out to you.
And you will answer me.
8Lord, there’s no one like you among the gods.
No one can do what you do.
9Lord, all the nations you have made
will come and worship you.
They will bring glory to you.
10You are great. You do wonderful things.
You alone are God.
11Lord, teach me how you want me to live.
Do this so that I will depend on you, my faithful God.
Give me a heart that doesn’t want anything
more than to worship you.
12Lord my God, I will praise you with all my heart.
I will bring glory to you forever.
13Great is your love for me.
You have kept me from going down into the place of the dead.
14God, proud people are attacking me.
A gang of mean people is trying to kill me.
They don’t care about you.
15But Lord, you are a God who is tender and kind.
You are gracious.
You are slow to get angry.
You are faithful and full of love.
16Come to my aid and have mercy on me.
Show your strength by helping me.
Save me because I serve you just as my mother did.
17Prove your goodness to me.
Then my enemies will see it and be put to shame.
Lord, you have helped me and given me comfort.

Oração de David.
1Presta atenção à minha oração, Senhor;
ouve-me, pois estou bem necessitado e aflito.
2Guarda a minha alma, pois sou teu, ó Deus meu;
salva-me, pois eu te sirvo e confio em ti.
3Tem misericórdia de mim, ó Senhor,
pois chamo por ti o dia inteiro.
4Dá-me alegria, Senhor, pois estou ao teu serviço;
é a ti que a minha alma se dirige.
5Tu, Senhor, és bom e pronto a perdoar;
cheio de bondade para os que apelam à tua ajuda.
6Ouve atentamente a minha oração, Senhor;
atende a voz das minhas súplicas.
7Chamarei por ti, quando me encontrar em angústia,
porque sei que me respondes.
8Entre os deuses não há nenhum que se assemelhe a ti,
nem que faça obras como as tuas.
9Todas as nações, que tu próprio formaste,
virão e se inclinarão perante ti, Senhor;
dirão coisas belas sobre a força do teu nome.
10Porque és grande e realizas grandes maravilhas.
Só tu és Deus!
11Ensina-me, Senhor, o teu caminho e andarei na tua verdade;
que todo o meu ser saiba temer o teu nome!
12Eu te louvarei de todo o meu coração, Senhor, meu Deus,
e darei honra ao teu nome para sempre.
13Pois tem sido grande a tua misericórdia para comigo;
livraste a minha alma das profundezas do mundo dos mortos.
14Ó Deus, gente soberba levantou-se contra mim;
ajuntamentos de pessoas violentas,
verdadeiros tiranos que procuram matar-me
e nem sequer pensam que tu podes ver tudo.
15Mas tu, Senhor, és um Deus cheio de compaixão e misericórdia;
és meigo e bom e nunca falhas ao que prometes.
16Olha para mim e compadece-te da minha situação;
dá-me força para te servir e salva-me,
pois sou filho de uma mulher que também te serviu!
17Dá-me uma prova do teu favor,
para que a vejam os que te aborrecem
e sejam condenados por toda a gente,
quando virem, que tu, Senhor, me ajudas e confortas.
