Psalm 36
For the director of music. A psalm of David, the servant of the Lord.
1I have a message from God in my heart.
It is about the evil ways of anyone who sins.
They don’t have any respect for God.
2They praise themselves so much
that they can’t see their sin or hate it.
3Their mouths speak words that are evil and false.
They do not act wisely or do what is good.
4Even as they lie in bed they make evil plans.
They commit themselves to a sinful way of life.
They never say no to what is wrong.
5Lord, your love is as high as the heavens.
Your faithful love reaches up to the skies.
6Your holiness is as great as the height of the highest mountains.
You are as honest as the oceans are deep.
Lord, you keep people and animals safe.
7How priceless your faithful love is!
People find safety in the shadow of your wings.
8They eat well because there is more than enough in your house.
You let them drink from your river that flows with good things.
9You have the fountain of life.
We are filled with light because you give us light.
10Keep on loving those who know you.
Keep on doing right to those whose hearts are honest.
11Don’t let the feet of those who are proud step on me.
Don’t let the hands of those who are evil drive me away.
12See how those who do evil have fallen!

Salmo de David, servo do Senhor. Para o diretor do coro.
1O pecado oculta-se profundamente no coração dos maus;
para eles não há o temor de Deus.
2Pelo contrário, pensam que podem viver bem
e que não serão apanhados,
se esconderem as suas obras más.
3Tudo o que dizem é com maldade e engano;
perderam o entendimento das coisas
e nem são já capazes de fazer o bem.
4Ficam acordados durante a noite,
a fim de planearem os seus atos perversos,
em vez de planearem a forma de fazerem o bem
e de se afastarem do erro.
5A tua misericórdia, Senhor, chega até aos céus;
a tua fidelidade vai mesmo até às nuvens.
6A tua justiça é sólida como as grandes montanhas;
as tuas decisões são tão cheias de sabedoria
como profundos são os oceanos.
Preocupas-te com a vida dos homens e dos animais.
7Como é preciosa, ó Deus, a tua misericórdia!
Por isso, a humanidade se abriga à sombra das tuas asas.
8Tu os alimentas com as bênçãos da tua própria casa
e os fazes beber dos teus rios de gozo divino.
9Pois tu és a fonte da vida;
a nossa luz vem da tua luz.
10Derrama o teu amor sobre os que te conhecem,
e a tua justiça sobre os que têm um coração íntegro.
11Não deixes que gente orgulhosa me pise;
não consintas que mãos perversas me façam fugir.
12Esses obreiros da maldade já caíram;
caíram e nunca mais se levantarão.
