The Sons of Israel

1Here are the names of the sons of Israel. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, 2Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, Asher.

The Family of Judah

The Family Line From Judah’s Sons to Hezron’s Sons

3The sons of Judah were

Er, Onan and Shelah. A woman from Canaan had these three sons by him. She was the daughter of Shua.

Er was Judah’s oldest son. He was evil in the Lord’s sight. So the Lord put him to death.

4Tamar was Judah’s daughter-in-law. She had Perez and Zerah by him.

The total number of Judah’s sons was five.

5The sons of Perez were

Hezron and Hamul.

6The sons of Zerah were

Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol and Darda. The total number of Zerah’s sons was five.

7The son of Karmi was Achar.

He brought trouble on Israel. Some things that had been set apart to the Lord in a special way to be destroyed. He took some of those things. When he did that, he disobeyed the Lord’s command.

8The son of Ethan was

Azariah.

9Hezron was the father of

Jerahmeel, Ram and Caleb.

The Family Line of Ram

10Ram was the father of Amminadab.

Amminadab was the father of Nahshon. Nahshon was the leader of the people of Judah.

11Nahshon was the father of Salmon.

Salmon was the father of Boaz.

12Boaz was the father of Obed.

And Obed was the father of Jesse.

13Jesse’s first son was

Eliab. His second son was Abinadab.

The third was Shimea. 14The fourth was Nethanel.

The fifth was Raddai. 15The sixth was Ozem.

And the seventh was David.

16Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail.

Zeruiah’s three sons were Abishai, Joab and Asahel.

17Abigail was the mother of Amasa. Amasa’s father was Jether. Jether belonged to the family line of Ishmael.

The Family Line of Caleb

18Caleb was the son of Hezron. Caleb’s wife Azubah had children by him. Jerioth also had children by him. Azubah’s sons were

Jesher, Shobab and Ardon.

19When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath. She had Hur by him.

20Hur was the father of Uri. And Uri was the father of Bezalel.

21When he was 60 years old, Hezron married the daughter of Makir. Makir was the father of Gilead. Hezron slept with his wife, and she had Segub by him.

22Segub was the father of Jair. Jair controlled 23 towns in Gilead.

23But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth Jair. They also captured Kenath and the settlements around it. The total number of towns captured was 60.

Hezron, Segub and Jair belonged to the family line of Makir. Makir was the father of Gilead.

24Hezron died in Caleb Ephrathah. Abijah was Hezron’s wife. She had Ashhur by him. Ashhur was born after Hezron died. Ashhur was the father of Tekoa.

The Family Line of Jerahmeel

25Here are the sons of Jerahmeel. He was the oldest son of Hezron.

Ram was Jerahmeel’s oldest son. Then came Bunah, Oren, Ozem and Ahijah. 26Jerahmeel had another wife. Her name was Atarah. She was the mother of Onam.

27Here are the sons of Ram. He was the oldest son of Jerahmeel. The sons of Ram were

Maaz, Jamin and Eker.

28The sons of Onam were

Shammai and Jada.

The sons of Shammai were

Nadab and Abishur. 29Abishur’s wife was named Abihail. She had Ahban and Molid by him.

30The sons of Nadab were

Seled and Appaim. Seled died without having any children.

31The son of Appaim was

Ishi. Ishi was the father of Sheshan. Sheshan was the father of Ahlai.

32The sons of Jada were

Jether and Jonathan. Jada was Shammai’s brother. Jether died without having any children.

33The sons of Jonathan were

Peleth and Zaza.

They belonged to the family line of Jerahmeel.

34Sheshan didn’t have any sons. All he had was daughters.

He had a servant from Egypt named Jarha. 35Sheshan gave his daughter to be married to his servant Jarha. She had Attai by Jarha.

36Attai was the father of Nathan.

Nathan was the father of Zabad.

37Zabad was the father of Ephlal.

Ephlal was the father of Obed.

38Obed was the father of Jehu.

Jehu was the father of Azariah.

39Azariah was the father of Helez.

Helez was the father of Eleasah.

40Eleasah was the father of Sismai.

Sismai was the father of Shallum.

41Shallum was the father of Jekamiah.

And Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.

The Family Groups of Caleb

42Caleb was the brother of Jerahmeel.

Caleb’s oldest son was Mesha. Mesha was the father of Ziph.

Caleb had another son named Mareshah. Mareshah was the father of Hebron.

43The sons of Hebron were

Korah, Tappuah, Rekem and Shema.

44Shema was the father of Raham.

Raham was the father of Jorkeam.

Rekem was the father of Shammai.

45The son of Shammai was Maon.

Maon was the father of Beth Zur.

46Caleb had a concubine named Ephah.

She was the mother of Haran, Moza and Gazez.

Haran was the father of Gazez.

47The sons of Jahdai were

Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah and Shaaph.

48Caleb had a concubine named Maakah.

She was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah.

49She was also the mother of Shaaph and Sheva. Shaaph was the father of Madmannah.

Sheva was the father of Makbenah and Gibea.

Caleb’s daughter was Aksah.

50All of them belonged to the family line of Caleb.

Hur was the oldest son of Ephrathah.

Hur was the brother of Shobal. Shobal was the father of Kiriath Jearim. 51Hur was the father of Salma. Salma was the father of Bethlehem. Hur was also the father of Hareph. Hareph was the father of Beth Gader.

52Here is the family line of Shobal, the father of Kiriath Jearim. It included

Haroeh and half of the people of Manahath. 53It also included the family groups of Kiriath Jearim. They were the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites and Mishraites. The people of Zorah and Eshtaol belonged to these family groups.

54Here is the family line of Salma. It included

Bethlehem, the people of Netophah, Atroth Beth Joab, half of the people of Manahath, and the Zorites. 55It also included the family groups of secretaries who lived at Jabez. They were the Tirathites, Shimeathites and Sucathites. They were the Kenites who belonged to the family line of Hammath. Hammath was the father of the family line of Rekab.

نسل يهودا

1‏-2پسران يعقوب معروف به اسرائيل اينها بودند:

رئوبين، شمعون، لاوی، يهودا،

يساكار، زبولون، دان، يوسف،

بنيامين، نفتالی، جاد و اشير.

3يهودا از زن كنعانی خود، بتشوع، سه پسر داشت به نامهای: عير، اونان و شيله. ولی عير، پسر ارشد او، شرور بود و خداوند او را كشت.

4بعد تامار، زن بيوهٔ عير كه عروس يهودا بود از خود يهودا2‏:4 نگاه کنيد به پيدايش 38.‏ حامله شد و دو پسر دوقلو به نامهای فارص و زارح زاييد. يهودا جمعاً پنج پسر داشت.

5پسران فارص، حصرون و حامول بودند.

6پسران زارح:

زمری، ايتان، هيمان،

كلكول و دارع.

7(عخان2‏:7 در متن اصلی به جای عخان، «عخار» آمده است که به معنی «فاجعه» می‌شد. نگاه کنيد به يوشع 7‏:1.‏ پسر كرمی، كه با برداشتن مال حرام به خدا خيانت كرد و در قوم اسرائيل فاجعه به بار آورد نيز از نسل زارح بود.)

8عزريا پسر ايتان بود.

خاندان داوود پادشاه

9يرحم‌ئيل، رام و كلوبای پسران حصرون بودند.

10رام پدر عميناداب، و عميناداب پدر نحشون (نحشون رهبر قبيلهٔ يهودا بود)، 11نحشون پدر سلما، سلمون پدر بوعز، 12بوعز پدر عوبيد، و عوبيد پدر يسی بود.

13‏-15پسران يسی به ترتيب سن اينها بودند: الياب، ابيناداب، شمعا، نتن‌ئيل، ردای، اوصم و داوود. 16يسی دو دختر به نامهای صرويه و ابيجايل نيز داشت. پسران صرويه، ابيشای، يوآب و عسائيل بودند.

17ابيجايل كه شوهرش يتر اسماعيلی بود، پسری داشت به نام عماسا.

نسل حصرون

18كاليب (پسر حصرون) دو زن به نامهای عزوبه و يريعوت داشت. اينها فرزندان عزوبه بودند: ياشر، شوباب و اردون.

19پس از مرگ عزوبه، كاليب با افرات ازدواج كرد و از اين زن صاحب پسری شد به نام حور.

20اوری پسر حور، و بصل‌ئيل پسر اوری بود.

21حصرون در سن شصت سالگی با دختر ماخير ازدواج كرد و از او هم صاحب پسری شد به نام سجوب (ماخير پدر جلعاد بود).

22سجوب پدر يائير بود. يائير بر بيست و سه شهر در سرزمين جلعاد حكمرانی می‌كرد. 23ولی قوای جشور و ارام اين شهرها و شهر قناط را همراه با شصت روستای اطراف آن به زور از او گرفتند. ساكنان اين شهرها و روستاها از نسل ماخير (پدر جلعاد) بودند.

24كاليب بعد از مرگ پدرش حصرون، با افراته، زن پدر خود ازدواج كرد. افراته از كاليب صاحب پسری شد به اسم اشحور و اشحور هم پدر تقوع بود.

نسل يرحم‌ئيل

25اينها پسران (پسر ارشد حصرون) بودند:

رام (پسر بزرگ)، بونه، اورن،

اوصم و اخيا.

26عطاره زن دوم يرحم‌ئيل، مادر اونام بود.

27پسران رام:

معص، يامين و عاقر.

28پسران اونام، شمای و ياداع بودند.

پسران شمای، ناداب و ابيشور بودند.

29پسران ابيشور، احبان و موليد از زن او ابيحايل بودند.

30و پسران ناداب سلد و افايم بودند. سلد بی‌اولاد از دنيا رفت، 31ولی افايم پسری به نام يشعی داشت. يشعی پدر شيشان و شيشان پدر احلای بود.

32ياداع برادر شمای دو پسر داشت به نامهای يتر و يوناتان. يتر بی‌اولاد از دنيا رفت، 33ولی يوناتان دو پسر به اسم فالت و زازا داشت.

34‏-35شيشان پسری نداشت، ولی چندين دختر داشت. او يكی از دخترانش را به عقد يرحاع، غلام مصری خود درآورد. آنها صاحب پسری شدند و نامش را عتای گذاشتند.

36ناتان پسر عتای، زاباد پسر ناتان، 37افلال پسر زاباد، عوبيد پسر افلال. 38ييهو پسر عوبيد، عزريا پسر ييهو، 39حالص پسر عزريا، العاسه پسر حالص، 40سسمای پسر العاسه، شلوم پسر سسمای، 41يقميا پسر شلوم، اليشمع پسر يقميا بود.

نسل ديگر كاليب

42پسر ارشد كاليب (برادر يرحم‌ئيل) ميشاع نام داشت. ميشاع پدر زيف، زيف پدر ماريشه، ماريشه پدر حبرون بود.

43پسران حبرون عبارت بودند از: قورح، تفوح، راقم و شامع. 44شامع پدر راحم بود و راحم پدر يرقعام.

راقم پدر شمای بود.

45ماعون پسر شمای بود و پدر بيت‌صور.

46عيفه، كنيز كاليب، حاران و موصا و جازيز را زاييد. حاران هم پسری داشت به نام جازيز.

47(مردی به نام يهدای شش پسر داشت به اسامی:

راجم، يوتام، جيشان، فالت، عيفه و شاعف).

48‏-49معكه يكی ديگر از كنيزان كاليب شش پسر به دنیا آورد به اسامی: شابر، ترحنه، شاعف (بانی شهر مدمنه) و شوا (بانی شهر مكبينا و جبعا). كاليب دختری نيز داشت كه نامش عكسه بود.

50پسران حور (پسر ارشد كاليب و افراته) اينها بودند: شوبال (بانی قريه يعاريم)، 51سلما (بانی بيت‌لحم) و حاريف (بانی بيت‌جادر).

52شوبال، بانی قريه يعاريم، جد طايفه هراوه كه نصف ساكنان منوحوت را تشكيل می‌دادند، بود.

53طايفه‌های قريه يعاريم كه از نسل شوبال بودند، عبارت بودند از: يتری، فوتی، شوماتی و مشراعی. (صرعاتی‌ها و اِشتائُلیان از نسل مشراعی‌ها بودند.)

54سلما، بانی بيت‌لحم، جد طايفه نطوفاتی، عطروت بيت‌يوآب و صرعی (يكی از دو طايفهٔ ساكن مانحت) بود.

55(طايفه‌های نويسندگانی كه كتب و مدارک را رونويسی می‌كردند و ساكن يعبيص بودند عبارت بودند از: ترعاتی، شمعاتی و سوكاتی. اين طايفه‌ها قينی و از نسل حمت، جد خاندان ريكاب، بودند.)
