1Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.54.1 chief…: or, overseer54.1 Maschil: or, of instruction
2Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.
3For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.
4Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.
5He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.54.5 mine…: Heb. those that observe me
6I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good.
7For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.
دعا برای نجات از دست دشمن
(اين مزمور را داوود هنگامی نوشت كه اهالی زيف می‌خواستند او را به شائول تسليم كنند. نگاه كنيد به اول سموئيل 23:19 و 26:1.)
1ای خدا، به قدرت خود مرا نجات ده و به قوت خويش از من دفاع كن. 2خدايا، دعای مرا بشنو و به سخنانم توجه فرما، 3زيرا بدكاران بر ضد من برخاسته‌اند و ظالمان قصد جان مرا دارند. آنان كسانی‌اند كه تو را نمی‌شناسند.
4ای خداوند، تو مددكار من هستی و جان مرا حفظ می‌كنی. 5تو دشمنان مرا به سزای اعمالشان خواهی رساند. تو امين هستی و آنها را ريشه‌كن خواهی كرد.
6ای خداوند، با ميل و رغبت قربانی به تو تقديم خواهم كرد و تو را سپاس خواهم گفت زيرا تو نيكو هستی. 7تو مرا از همهٔ مشكلاتم رهانيده‌ای و من با چشمان خود شكست دشمنانم را ديده‌ام.
