1The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.53.1 Maschil: or, of instruction
2God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
3Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
5There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.53.5 were…: Heb. they feared a fear

انسان بدكار
1كسی كه فكر می‌كند خدايی وجود ندارد، احمق است. چنين شخص فاسد است و دست به كارهای پليد می‌زند و هيچ نيكی در او نيست.
2خداوند از آسمان به انسانها نگاه می‌كند تا شخص فهميده‌ای بيابد كه طالب خدا باشد. 3اما همه از او روگردان شده‌اند، همه فاسد گشته‌اند و در وجود هيچيک از آنان نيكی نيست.
4اين بدكاران بی‌فهم خدا را نمی‌شناسند و قوم او را مانند نان می‌بلعند. 5ولی زمانی كه هيچ فكرش را نمی‌كنند ناگهان وحشت وجود آنها را فرا خواهد گرفت، زيرا خدا دشمنان قوم خود را هلاک كرده، استخوانهايشان را روی زمين پخش خواهد كرد. خدا آنان را طرد كرده است، بنابراين قوم او بر آنان چيره خواهند شد.
6قوم اسرائيل چقدر شاد خواهند شد وقتی خداوند آنان را رستگار و كامياب سازد! ای خداوند، از صهيون تجلی فرما و قوم خود را نجات ده!
