فرياد دادخواهی
1ای خداوند، چرا دور ايستاده‌ای؟ چرا به هنگام سختیها خود را پنهان می‌كنی؟ 2بيا و اشخاص متكبر و بدكار را كه بر فقرا ظلم می‌كنند در دامهای خودشان گرفتار ساز. 3آنها با غرور از مقاصد پليد خود سخن می‌رانند. آنها اشخاص طمعكار را می‌ستايند ولی خدا را ناسزا می‌گويند. 4اين بدكاران فكر می‌كنند خدايی وجود ندارد تا از آنها بازخواست كند. 5آنها در كارهايشان موفقند و دشمنانشان را به هيچ می‌شمارند و توجهی به احكام خدا ندارند. 6به خود می‌گويند: «هميشه موفق خواهيم بود و از هر مصيبتی به دور خواهيم ماند.»
7دهانشان پر از كفر و دروغ و تهديد است و از زبانشان گناه و شرارت می‌بارد. 8نزديک روستاها به كمين می‌نشينند و اشخاص بی‌گناه را می‌كشند. 9مانند شير درنده، كمين می‌كنند و بر اشخاص فقير و درمانده حمله می‌برند و ايشان را در دام خود گرفتار می‌سازند. 10اشخاص بيچاره در زير ضربات بی‌رحمانهٔ آنها خرد می‌شوند. 11اين بدكاران در دل خود می‌گويند: «خدا روی خود را برگردانده و اين چيزها را هرگز نمی‌بيند.»
12ای خداوند، برخيز و اين بدكاران را مجازات كن! ای خدا، بيچارگان را فراموش مكن! 13چرا اجازه می‌دهی كه بدكاران به تو اهانت كنند؟ آنها فكر می‌كنند كه تو هرگز از ايشان بازخواست نخواهی كرد! 14اما ای خدا، تو می‌بينی! تو رنج و غم مردم را می‌بينی و به داد آنها می‌رسی. تو اميد بيچارگان و مددكار يتيمان هستی. 15دست اين بدكاران را بشكن. آنها را به سزای اعمالشان برسان و به ظلم آنها پايان بده.
16خداوند تا ابد پادشاه است؛ آنانی كه او را نمی‌پرستند از سرزمين وی رانده و هلاک خواهند شد.
17ای خداوند، تو دعای بيچارگان را اجابت می‌كنی. تو به درد دل آنها گوش می‌دهی و به ايشان قوت قلب می‌بخشی. 18تو از حق يتيمان و مظلومان دفاع می‌كنی تا ديگر انسان خاكی نتواند آنها را بترساند.
