1何度しかられても言うことを聞かない者は、
突然倒れて二度と立ち直れません。
2正しい人が治めると国民は喜び、
悪者が権力を握ると嘆きます。
3知恵のある子は父親を幸せにしますが、
悪い女とつき合う者は財産を使い果たして、
親に恥をかかせます。
4正しいことをする王は国をしっかり治め、
わいろを要求する王は国を滅ぼします。
5-6調子のいいお世辞は罠です。
悪人はそれに足をとられて転びますが、
正しい人は近寄ろうともしないので安全です。
7正しい人は貧しい人の権利も認めますが、
神を信じない者は気にもかけません。
8愚か者はけんかの種をまき散らし、
知恵のある人は事を丸く収めます。
9愚か者と言い争っても無駄です。
相手はかっとなり、感情をむき出しにして、
こちらをさげすむだけです。
10神を恐れる人は、
いのちをつけねらう者のためにも祈ります。
11神に逆らう者は頭にくるとすぐにどなり、
知恵のある人はじっと我慢します。
12悪い指導者の回りには、悪い部下が集まるものです。
13金持ちも貧しい人も、
主の前では全く同じように太陽の恵みを受けます。
14貧しい人を差別せずに正しく裁く王は、
長く国を治めます。
15子どもは、しかられ懲らしめられることで、
何が悪いことなのかを知ります。
わがままいっぱいに育てると、
あとで母親が恥をかきます。
16支配者が悪いと国民も悪くなりますが、
正しい人は必ず彼らの滅びを見届けます。
17子どもをきびしくしつければ、
老後は幸せに過ごせます。
18神を知らない民は好き勝手に振る舞い、
手がつけられませんが、
国中の人が神の教えを守ろうとする国は幸いです。
19右から左に聞き流す者は、しかるだけでなく、
懲らしめなければ言うことを聞きません。
20短気な者に比べたら、愚か者のほうがまだましです。
21使用人を子どものころから甘やかすと、
息子のように大きな顔をするようになります。
22短気な者は争いの種をまき散らし、
いつもめんどうに巻き込まれます。
23自分を鼻にかけすぎるとたたかれ、
謙遜にしているとほめられます。
24悪いとわかっていながら、どろぼうに手を貸す者は、
いつかは自分にいや気がさします。
25人を恐れることは危険な罠ですが、
主に頼れば安心です。
26正しい裁判をしてほしかったら、
裁判官に取り入ろうとせず、主に任せなさい。
27正しい人は悪者のすることが、
悪者は正しい人のすることが大きらいです。
