1Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand. 2And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.2.2 oppress: or, defraud 3Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil.

12¶ I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. 13The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.
Planurile celor răi și planurile lui Dumnezeu
1Vai de cei ce plănuiesc nelegiuire
și uneltesc răul1 Lit.: fac răul. în așternutul lor!
Chiar din zorii dimineții încep să le săvârșească,
pentru că le stă în putere.
2Poftesc ogoare, și apoi pun mâna pe ele!
Poftesc case, iar apoi și le însușesc!
Asupresc pe om și casa lui,
pe bărbat și moștenirea sa.
3De aceea, așa vorbește Domnul:
„Iată, plănuiesc împotriva acestui clan o nenorocire
de care nu vă veți putea feri cefele!
Și nu veți mai umbla plini de înfumurare,
căci vor fi vremuri grele.
4În ziua aceea, se va rosti o pildă pe seama voastră
și se va face o cântare de jale, care va zice:
«Suntem ruinați de tot!
El înstrăinează proprietatea poporului meu!
Vai cum o înlătură de la mine!
Ogoarele noastre le împarte trădătorilor4 Asirienii (vezi Is. 33:1); sau cuceritorilor; sau răzvrătiților, apostaților.!»“
5De aceea nu vei mai avea pe nimeni
care să întindă prin sorți,
în adunarea Domnului, funia de măsurat.
Falșii profeți
6„Nu mai predicați!“, vor predica ei atunci.
„Să nu mai predice aceste lucruri!
Ocările nu ne vor copleși!“
7Dar ce ar trebui să se spună, Casă a lui Iacov?7 Sau: Aceasta ar trebui să spună Casa lui Iacov?
„Se mânie chiar atât de ușor Duhul Domnului?
Acesta este felul Lui de a lucra?“
„Oare nu fac bine cuvintele Mele
celui ce umblă cu dreptate?7 Sau, cf. LXX: de a lucra? / Oare nu fac bine cuvintele Lui / celui ce umblă cu dreptate? În v. 7 avem fie cuvintele falșilor profeți, care pun niște întrebări retorice, fie cuvintele lui Mica, împotriva acestora.
8De curând, poporul Meu
s‑a ridicat ca un dușman.8 Sau: V‑ați ridicat ca un dușman / împotriva poporului Meu.
Ați smuls mantaua
de peste haină8 Sensul celor două versuri este nesigur. Sau Ați smuls mantaua celor pașnici.,
de la cei ce trec în siguranță,
cei ce se întorc de la război8 Sau: celor ce nu se gândesc de război, fie în ideea că sunt pașnici (vezi nota precedentă), fie în ideea că au certitudinea că războiul a trecut..
9Voi le alungați pe femeile poporului Meu
din casele lor plăcute
și luați de la copiii lor
pentru totdeauna măreția Mea.
10Ridicați‑vă și plecați,
căci acesta nu mai este locul vostru de odihnă10 Vezi Deut. 12:9; Is. 28:12..
Pentru că a devenit necurat,
el va fi distrus, iar distrugerea va fi cumplită!
11Dacă un mincinos și un înșelător ar veni și ar spune:
«Îți voi predica despre vin și despre băuturi tari!»11 Sau: Îți voi promite vin și băuturi tari.,
acela ar fi considerat drept predicatorul acestui popor!
Promisiunea restaurării
12Cu siguranță te voi strânge în întregime, Iacov!
Cu siguranță voi aduna rămășița lui Israel!
Îi voi pune laolaltă ca pe niște oi în țarc,
ca pe o turmă în pășunea ei;
locul acela va mișuna de oameni.
13Cel ce deschide calea se va sui înaintea lor;
ei vor pătrunde, vor intra pe poartă și vor ieși.
Împăratul lor va trece înaintea lor,
și Domnul va fi în fruntea lor.“
