7¶ For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together. 8And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken. 9Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein. 10Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.48.10 deceitfully: or, negligently
11¶ Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.48.11 remained: Heb. stood 12Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles. 13And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth-el their confidence.
14¶ How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war? 15Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.48.15 his…: Heb. the choice of 16The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast. 17All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod! 18Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holds. 19O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What is done?48.19 inhabitant: Heb. inhabitress 20Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled, 21And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath, 22And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Beth-diblathaim, 23And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Beth-gamul, and upon Beth-meon, 24And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near. 25The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.
26¶ Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision. 27For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.48.27 skippedst…: or, movedst thyself 28O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth. 29We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart. 30I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.48.30 his lies…: or, those on whom he stayeth (Heb. his bars) do not right 31Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kir-heres. 32O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage. 33And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting. 34From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.48.34 desolate: Heb. desolations 35Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods. 36Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kir-heres: because the riches that he hath gotten are perished. 37For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.48.37 clipped: Heb. diminished 38There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD. 39They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.48.39 back: Heb. neck 40For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab. 41Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.48.41 Kerioth: or, The cities 42And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD. 43Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD. 44He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD. 45They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.48.45 tumultuous…: Heb. children of noise 46Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters captives.48.46 captives, and: Heb. in captivity, etc
47¶ Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.

Nagkanayon sila, ‘Dali! Laglagon ta ang Moab.’ Ang lungsod sa Madmen sulongon usab sa mga kaaway ug mahimong awaaw. 3Paminawa ninyo ang singgit sa pagpakitabang gikan sa Horonaim tungod sa grabe nga kagubot ug kalaglagan. 4Malaglag gayod ang Moab, ug maghilaka ang mga kabataan. 5Ang mga lumulupyo sa Moab manghilak ug magbakho samtang gatungas sa Luhit. Ug sa paglugsong ngadto sa Horonaim, madunggan ang pagtiyabaw tungod sa kalaglagan.
6“Luwasa ang inyong kaugalingon! Pangikyas kamo ngadto sa kamingawan. 7Kamo nga mga taga-Moab, nagsalig kamo sa inyong abilidad ug bahandi. Bihagon kamo apil ang inyong dios-dios nga si Kemosh ug ang iyang mga pari ug mga opisyal.
8“Moadto sa matag lungsod ang tiglaglag ug walay lungsod nga makalingkawas. Malaglag usab ang mga lungsod sa kapatagan ug sa patag ibabaw sa bukid. Mahitabo gayod ini, kay ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini. 9Kon aduna lang untay pako ang Moab, makalupad unta siya palayo,48:9 Kon aduna… palayo: o, Asini ang Moab aron wala nay motubo niini nga mga tanom. kay dili na pagapuy-an ang mga lungsod niini ug mahimong awaaw na kini. 10Panghimaraoton ang tawong magbangay-bangay sa pagbuhat sa buluhaton sa Ginoo batok sa Moab. Panghimaraoton ang tawong dili mogamit sa iyang espada sa pagpatay sa mga taga-Moab. 11Sukad sa iyang pagsugod, hayahay ang Moab. Wala gayod kini sukad mabihag. Sama kini sa bino nga wala tandoga o ibalhin-balhin ug sudlanan. Busa wala gayod mausab ang iyang lami ug kahumot.
12“Apan moabot ang adlaw nga magpadala akog mga kaaway nga moyabo niini ug modugmok sa iyang sudlanan. 13Unya ikaulaw sa Moab ang ilang dios-dios nga si Kemosh, maingon nga gikaulaw sa katawhan sa Israel ang Betel48:13 Betel: o, ang dios-dios nga nating baka sa Betel. nga ilang gisaligan. 14Nanghambog ang mga taga-Moab nga maisog sila nga mga sundalo. 15Apan malaglag gayod ang Moab ug ang mga lungsod niini. Pamatyon ang iyang kinaisogan nga mga batan-on. Ako, ang Ginoo nga Makagagahom nga Hari, ang nagaingon niini.
16“Hapit na ang kalaglagan sa Moab. 17Pagbangotan kamong mga nasod nga anaa sa iyang palibot, kamong tanan nga nasayod sa kabantog sa Moab! Pagsubo kamo ug moingon, ‘Natapos na ang Moab! Nabali na ang iyang baston, ang baston nga nagasimbolo sa iyang gahom ug kabantog.’
18“Kamong mga lumulupyo sa Dibon, pagpaubos kamo ug yaka sa yuta, kay ang tiglaglag sa Moab mosulong kaninyo ug panggub-on niini ang inyong pinarilan nga mga lungsod. 19Kamo nga nagapuyo sa Aroer, barog kamo daplin sa dalan ug pagbantay. Pangutan-a ang mga nakaikyas kon unsay nahitabo. 20Motubag sila, ‘Nalaglag ug naulawan ang Moab. Busa pagsubo kamo ug panghilak. Isinggit ninyo sa Arnon nga nalaglag ang Moab.’
21“Silotan usab ang mga lungsod sa patag ibabaw sa bukid: ang Holon, Jaza, Mefaat, 22Dibon, Nebo, Bet Diblataim, 23Kiriataim, Bet Gamul, Bet Meon, 24Kiriot, ug Bozra. Moabot na ang silot sa tanang lungsod sa Moab, duol man o layo. 25Wala nay gahom ang Moab ug huyang na kini. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.
26“Huboga ang Moab, kay naghunahuna siya nga labaw siya kanako. Moligid siya sa iyang kaugalingong suka ug mahimong kataw-anan. 27Mga lumulupyo sa Moab, dili ba gibiaybiay man ninyo ang Israel? Ngano, nasakpan ba siya uban sa mga kawatan, nga magpanglingo48:27 magpanglingo: timaan sa ilang pagbiaybiay. man kamo matag hisgot ninyo kaniya? 28Biya na kamo sa inyong mga lungsod ug puyo kamo sa batoon nga bukid, sama sa salampati nga nagsalag diha sa pangpang. 29Labihan kaayo kamo ka garboso. Nasayod ako kon unsa kataas ang inyong pagtan-aw sa inyong kaugalingon ug kon unsa kamo kamapahitas-on. 30Ako, ang Ginoo, nasayod kon unsa kamo kahambogiro. Apan dili tinuod ang inyong gipanghambog ug wala kini kapuslanan. 31Busa maghilak ako alang sa Moab ug sa mga taga-Kir Hareset.48:31 Kir Hareset: o, Kir Heres. 32Maghilak usab ako alang sa katawhan sa Sibma, labaw pa sa paghilak ko sa mga taga-Jazer. O Sibma, sama ka sa ubas nga ang mga sanga miabot sa tabok sa Patayng Dagat hangtod sa Jazer. Apan karon gihurot ug panguha sa tiglaglag ang imong mga bunga. 33Mahanaw ang kalipay ug kasadya diha sa mga kaumahan ug mga ubasan sa yuta sa Moab. Wala nay modagayday nga bino sa mga pug-anan. Wala nay magpuga ug ubas nga inubanan sa singgit sa kalipay. Adunay pagsinggit apan dili singgit sa kalipay. 34Ang pagtiyabaw madunggan gikan sa taga-Heshbon hangtod sa Eleale ug sa Jahaz. Madungog usab kini sa Zoar hangtod sa Horonaim ug Eglat Shelishiya. Kay bisan ang sapa sa Nimrim mahubsan. 35Pamatyon ko kadtong mga taga-Moab nga nagahalad sa mga simbahanan diha sa habog nga mga dapit ug ang nagasunog ug insenso sa ilang mga dios. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.
36“Busa mag-agulo gayod ako alang sa Moab ug sa mga taga-Kir Hareset, sama sa subo nga tingog sa plawta nga gitukar alang sa patay. Nahanaw na ang bahandi nga ilang naangkon. 37Ang matag-usa magpakita ug pagsubo pinaagi sa pagpaupaw, pagpamalbas, pagsamad-samad sa ilang mga kamot, ug pagbistig sako. 38Maniyabaw ang mga tawo diha sa atop sa ilang kabalayan ug sa mga plasa, kay gilaglag ko ang Moab sama sa pagbuak sa usa ka banga nga wala nay nagtagad. 39Nalaglag na ang Moab! Paminawa ang pagtiyabaw sa iyang mga lumulupyo. Maulawan pag-ayo ang Moab, ug biay-biayon kini ug malisang ang tanang lugar sa palibot niini nga nakakita sa nahitabo.”
40Nagpadayon pa gayod sa pagsulti ang Ginoo, “Tan-awa! Ang kaaway sa Moab daw agila nga mosakdap niini. 41Mailog ang mga lungsod48:41 mga lungsod: o, Keriot. ug ang mga kuta sa Moab. Nianang panahona ang mga sundalo sa Moab bation sa kahadlok nga sama sa babayeng nagbati. 42Malaglag gayod ang Moab tungod kay naghunahuna siya nga labaw siya sa Ginoo. 43Kalisang, bung-aw, ug lit-ag ang nagapaabot sa mga taga-Moab. 44Ang moikyas sa kalisang mahulog sa bung-aw. Ang makagawas sa bung-aw, malit-agan, kay silotan ko gayod ang Moab sa gitakda nga panahon. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini. 45Ang makalulooy nga nakaikyas gustong manago sa Heshbon. Apan ang Heshbon nga gidumala kanhi ni Haring Sihon nagadilaab. Gilamoy sa kalayo ang mga bukid diin nagtago ang mga taga-Moab nga hilig makig-away. 46Alaot gayod kamo, mga taga-Moab! Malaglag kamong nagasimba sa dios-dios nga si Kemosh, ug pamihagon ang inyong mga kabataan. 47Apan sa ulahing mga adlaw ibalik ko ang maayong kahimtang sa Moab. Ako, ang Ginoo, ang nagaingon niini.” Mao kadto ang mensahe bahin sa Moab.
