1And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah. 2But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.37.2 by…: Heb. by the hand of the prophet 3And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us. 4Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people: for they had not put him into prison. 5Then Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
6¶ Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying, 7Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land. 8And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire. 9Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.37.9 yourselves: Heb. your souls 10For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.37.10 wounded: Heb. thrust through
11¶ And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,37.11 broken…: Heb. made to ascend 12Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.37.12 separate…: or, to slip away from thence in the midst of the people 13And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans. 14Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. 16¶ When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;37.16 cabins: or, cells 17Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon. 18Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison? 19Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land? 20Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.37.20 let…: Heb. let my supplication fall 21Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

3Karon, ginsugo ni Haring Zedekia si Jehucal nga anak ni Shelemia kag ang pari nga si Zefanias nga anak ni Maasea nga magkadto kay Propeta Jeremias sa pagpangabay sa iya nga magpangamuyo siya sa Ginoo nga ila Dios para sa ila. 4Sadto nga tion wala pa si Jeremias napriso, gani hilway siya sa pagkadto bisan diin. 5Sa sina man nga tion nagasalakay ang mga taga-Babilonia37:5 taga-Babilonia: sa literal, Kaldeanhon. Amo man sa bersikulo 8, 9, 11, 13 kag 14. sa Jerusalem, pero sang mabatian nila nga nagapadulong na ang mga soldado sang hari sang Egipto,37:5 hari sang Egipto: sa Hebreo, Faraon. 6-7Dayon nagsiling ang Ginoo, ang Dios sang Israel, kay Jeremias, “Silinga si Haring Zedekia sang Juda nga nagsugo sa imo sa pagpamangkot sa akon kon ano ang matabo, ‘Nagapadulong ang mga soldado sang hari sang Egipto sa pagbulig sa inyo, pero magabalik sila sa Egipto. 8Dayon magabalik ang mga taga-Babilonia sa sini nga siyudad. Sakupon nila ini kag dayon sunugon. 9Amo pa gid ini ang ginasiling sang Ginoo: Indi ninyo pagdayai ang inyo kaugalingon paagi sa paghunahuna nga indi na magbalik ang mga taga-Babilonia. Kay magabalik gid sila. 10Bisan mapierdi pa ninyo ang bug-os nga kasoldaduhan sang Babilonia nga nagasalakay sa inyo, kag ang nabilin lang sa ila amo ang pilason nga ara sa ila mga tolda, magasalakay gihapon sila sa inyo kag sunugon nila ini nga siyudad.’ ”
Ang Pagpriso kay Jeremias
11Sang magpalagyo ang mga soldado sang Babilonia halin sa Jerusalem tungod sa mga soldado sang hari sang Egipto, 12naghalin si Jeremias sa Jerusalem kag nagkadto sa duta ni Benjamin sa pagkuha sang iya bahin sa duta sang iya pamilya. 13Pero pag-abot niya sa Puwertahan ni Benjamin, gindakop siya sang kapitan sang mga guwardya nga si Iria nga anak ni Shelemia kag apo ni Hanania. Ginsilingan siya sang kapitan, “Nagaapin ka sa mga taga-Babilonia!” 14Nagsabat si Jeremias, “Indi ina matuod! Wala ako nagaapin sa mga taga-Babilonia.” Pero indi gid magpati si Iria, gani gindakop niya si Jeremias kag gindala sa mga opisyal. 15Naakig sila kay Jeremias, kag ginpahanot nila siya kag dayon ginpriso didto sa balay ni Jonatan nga sekretaryo. Ato nga balay ginhimo nila nga prisohan. 16Ginsulod nila si Jeremias sa selda nga ara sa idalom sang duta kag dugay siya didto.
17Sang ulihi ginpakuha siya ni Haring Zedekia kag gindala sa palasyo. Nagpamangkot si Zedekia sa iya sa sekreto, “May mensahi ka bala halin sa Ginoo?” Nagsabat si Jeremias, “Huo, may ara. Itugyan ka sa hari sang Babilonia.”
18Dayon nagpamangkot si Jeremias sa hari, “Ano bala ang sala nga akon nahimo sa imo, sa imo mga opisyal, kag sa mga tawo nga ginpapriso mo ako? 19Diin na bala ang inyo mga propeta nga nagpanagna nga indi pagsalakayon sang hari sang Babilonia ang ini nga siyudad? 20Mahal nga Hari, kon mahimo pamatii man ako. Nagapakitluoy ako sa imo nga indi na ako pag-ibalik didto sa balay ni Jonatan nga sekretaryo, kay mapatay gid ako didto.”
21Gani nagmando si Haring Zedekia nga ibutang na lang si Jeremias didto sa lagwerta sang mga guwardya sang palasyo. Nagmando man ang hari nga hatagan si Jeremias sang tinapay kada adlaw samtang may nabilin pa nga tinapay sa siyudad. Gani nagpabilin nga priso si Jeremias didto sa lagwerta sang mga guwardya.
