이집트와 에티오피아에 대한 예언
1앗시리아의 사르곤황제가 자기 군대의 총사령관을 보내 아스돗을 공 격하여 점령할 당시
2여호와께서 아모스의 아들 이사야에게 “네 삼베 옷과 신발을 벗어라” 하고 말씀하셨다. 그래서 그는 순종하여 벌거벗고 맨발로 다녔다.
3그러자 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “내 종 이사야는 지난 3년 동안 벌거벗고 맨발로 다녔는데 이것은 앞으로 이집트와 에티오피아가 당할 일의 상징이다.
4이와 같이 이집트 사람들과 에티오피아 사람들이 앗시리아 황제에게 포로로 잡혀갈 때 젊은 사람, 늙은 사람 할 것 없이 다 옷을 벗은 채 엉덩이를 드러내 놓고 맨발로 끌려갈 것이며 이것이 이집트의 수치가 될 것이다.
5에티오피아를 의지하고 이집트를 자랑하던 자들이 당황하고 부끄러워할 것이며
6그 날에 블레셋 해안 지역에 사는 자들이 이렇게 말할 것이다. ‘앗시리아 왕에게서 우리를 보호해 줄 것으로 믿었던 자들이 당한 일을 보아라. 이제 어떻게 하면 우리가 살아 남을 수 있단 말인가?’ ”
