1Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God. 2Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. 3Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, 4Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses withal: 5The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. 6¶ Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly, 7And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. 8And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.
10¶ Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever. 11Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. 12Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. 13Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. 14But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.29.14 be able: Heb. retain, or, obtain strength29.14 of thine…: Heb. of thine hand 15For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.29.15 abiding: Heb. expectation 16O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own. 17I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. 20¶ And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the LORD, and the king. 21And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel: 22And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.
23Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. 24And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.29.24 submitted…: Heb. gave the hand under Solomon 25And the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.
26¶ Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. 27And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem. 28And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead. 29Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,29.29 book: or, history: Heb. words 30With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
هدايا برای ساختن خانهٔ خدا
1آنگاه داوود پادشاه رو به تمام آن گروه كرد و گفت: «پسرم سليمان كه خدا او را انتخاب كرده تا پادشاه آيندهٔ اسرائيل باشد، هنوز جوان و كم‌تجربه است و كاری كه در پيش دارد، كار بزرگی است. عبادتگاهی كه می‌خواهد بسازد، يک ساختمان معمولی نيست، بلكه خانهٔ خداوند است. 2برای بنای خانهٔ خدای خود تا آنجا كه توانسته‌ام طلا و نقره، مفرغ و آهن، چوب و سنگ جزع، سنگهای گران قيمت ديگر و جواهرات با ارزش و سنگ مرمر جمع كرده‌ام، 3و چون دلبستگی به خانهٔ خدا دارم، تمام طلا و نقرهٔ خزانهٔ شخصی خود را برای بنای آن بخشيده‌ام. اين علاوه بر آن مصالح ساختمانی است كه قبلاً تدارک ديده‌ام. 4اين هدايای شخصی شامل صد تن طلای خالص و دويست و چهل تن نقرهٔ خالص برای روكش ديوارهای خانهٔ خدا 5و تمام لوازمی است كه به دست صنعتگران ساخته می‌شود. حال چه كسی حاضر است خود را با هر چه دارد در اختيار خداوند بگذارد؟»
6-7آنگاه رؤسای قبايل و طوايف، فرماندهان سپاه و ناظران دارايی پادشاه، با اشتياق ۱۷۰ تن طلا، ۳۴۰ تن نقره، ۶۱۰ تن مفرغ و ۳,۴۰۰ تن آهن هديه كردند. 8كسانی هم كه سنگهای قيمتی داشتند آنها را به خزانهٔ خانهٔ خداوند آورده، به يحی‌ئيل (پسر جرشون) تحويل دادند. 9تمام بنی‌اسرائيل از اينكه چنين فرصتی برای ايشان پيش آمده بود تا با اشتياق هدايايی تقديم كنند، خوشحال بودند. داوود پادشاه نيز از اين بابت بسيار شاد شد.
دعای داوود
10داوود در حضور آن گروه خداوند را ستايش كرده، گفت: «ای خداوند، خدای جد ما يعقوب، نام تو از ازل تا به ابد مورد ستايش باشد! 11عظمت و قدرت، جلال و شكوه و بزرگی برازندهٔ توست. ای خداوند، هر چه در آسمان و زمين است مال توست. سلطنت از آن توست. تو بالاتر و برتر از همه هستی. 12ثروت و افتخار از تو می‌آيد؛ تو بر همه چيز حاكم هستی. قدرت و توانايی در دست تو است؛ اين تو هستی كه به انسان قدرت و بزرگی می‌بخشی. 13ای خدای ما، از تو سپاسگزاريم و نام باشكوه تو را ستايش می‌كنيم.
14«ولی من و قوم من چه هستيم كه چنين افتخاری نصيب ما ساخته‌ای كه به تو چيزی بدهيم؟ هر چه داريم از تو داريم، و از مال تو به تو داده‌ايم. 15ما در اين دنيا مانند اجداد خود غريب و مهمانيم. عمر ما روی زمين مثل سايه، زودگذر است و دوامی ندارد. 16ای خداوند، خدای ما، تمام اين چيزهايی كه به تو تقديم كرده‌ايم تا خانه‌ای برای نام قدوس تو ساخته شود، از تو به ما رسيده و همه مال توست. 17خدای من، می‌دانم كه تو از قلب انسانها آگاهی و كسی را كه به راستی عمل می‌كند، دوست داری. من تمام اين كارها را از صميم قلب انجام داده‌ام و شاهدم كه قوم تو با شادی و اشتياق هدايای خود را تقديم كرده‌اند. 18ای خداوند، ای خدای اجداد ما ابراهيم و اسحاق و يعقوب، اين اشتياق را هميشه در دل قوم خود نگه دار و نگذار علاقهٔ خود را نسبت به تو از دست بدهند. 19اشتياقی در دل پسرم سليمان بوجود آور تا از جان و دل تمام اوامر تو را نگاه دارد و بنای خانهٔ تو را كه برايش تدارک ديده‌ام به اتمام برساند.»
20سپس داوود به تمام بنی‌اسرائيل گفت: «خداوند، خدای خود را ستايش كنيد.» و تمام جماعت در حضور خداوند، خدای اجداد خود و پادشاه زانو زدند و خداوند را ستايش كردند.
تاجگذاری سليمان
21روز بعد بنی‌اسرائيل هزار گاو، هزار قوچ و هزار بره برای قربانی سوختنی و نيز هدايای نوشيدنی به خداوند تقديم كردند. علاوه بر اينها، قربانیهای ديگری نيز به خداوند تقديم نموده، گوشت آنها را بين تمام قوم تقسيم كردند. 22آنها جشن گرفتند و با شادی فراوان در حضور خداوند خوردند و نوشيدند.
بنی‌اسرائيل بار ديگر پادشاهی سليمان، پسر داوود را تأييد كردند و او را به عنوان پادشاه و صادوق را به عنوان كاهن تدهين نمودند. 23به اين ترتيب سليمان به جای پدرش داوود بر تخت نشست تا بر قوم خداوند سلطنت كند. 24مقامات و فرماندهان سپاه و نيز تمام پسران پادشاه پشتيبانی خود را از سليمان پادشاه اعلام داشتند. 25خداوند، سليمان را در نظر تمام قوم اسرائيل بسيار بزرگ ساخت و به او جلالی شاهانه بخشيد، به طوری كه به هيچ پادشاه اسرائيل قبل از او داده نشده بود.
مرگ داوود پادشاه
26-27داوود پسر يسی مدت چهل سال پادشاه اسرائيل بود. از اين چهل سال، هفت سال در حبرون سلطنت كرد و سی و سه سال در اورشليم. 28او در كمال پيری، زمانی كه در اوج ثروت و افتخار بود، از دنيا رفت و سليمان به جای او پادشاه شد. 29شرح تمام رويدادهای دوران سلطنت داوود در كتب سه نبی، يعنی سموئيل، ناتان و جاد نوشته شده است. 30اين نوشته‌ها شرح سلطنت و قدرت او و پيش‌آمدهايی است كه برای او و اسرائيل و ساير اقوام همسايه رخ داد.
