酔っぱらってけんかになります。
酒に飲まれて失敗する者は愚か者です。
2王が怒るのは、ライオンがほえるようなものです。
王の怒りを買うといのちが危うくなります。
3争いを避けるのは名誉なことです。
けんか好きなのは愚か者だけです。
4冬のうちに耕しておかないと、
刈り入れ時になっても収穫は望めません。
5人が心の中で考えていることを、
知恵のある人はうまく引き出して役立てます。
6人はだれでも、自分を頼りになる友だと言いますが、
それがほんとうかどうかはわかりません。
7子どもにとって一番の遺産は、
正直に生きることを教わることです。
8裁判の席につく王は、あらゆる証拠を注意深く調べ、
ほんとうのこととうそとを見分けます。
9「心を入れ替えたから、もう潔白だ」と、
だれが言えるでしょう。

行いが正しいかどうかを見れば性格がわかります。

それきりになるおそれがあります。

しかし、だまし取った金で買ったパンは、
口の中でじゃりに変わるのです。
18計画を立てるときは人の意見をよく聞き、
戦いを始めるのはみなが賛成してからにしなさい。
19おしゃべり好きにうっかり秘密をもらすと、
世界中に喧伝されます。
20親をのろう者は死ななければなりません。
21思わぬ大金が転がり込むと、
かえって不幸になることがあります。
22悪いことをされても仕返ししてはいけません。
主があなたを救うのを待ち望みなさい。

24主が私たちの歩みを導いてくださいます。
人は自分に起こることすべてを理解することなど
できるでしょうか。
25よく考えもしないで神に約束すると、
あとで大変なことになります。
26知恵のある王は犯罪をなくすために、
犯人をきびしく罰します。
27良心は心の中をはっきり照らして、
隠れた思いを明るみに出す、主の光です。
28正しく思いやりのある王が治める国は、
何があっても揺らぎません。
29若い人の良いところはその若さ、
老人のすばらしいところは豊富な経験です。
30こらしめのむちは、
二度と悪いことをしないように教えるためです。
