つむじ風を刈り取るイスラエル
1警告を発せよ。
敵が来る。
はげたかのように、神の民を襲って来る。
彼らがわたしとの契約を破り、
わたしのおきてに背いたからだ。
2今になってイスラエルは、
『神よ、助けてください』と泣きつく。
3だが、もう遅い。
イスラエルはまたとない機会を軽蔑して投げ捨てた。
だから今、敵に追いかけられることになる。
4イスラエルはわたしの同意なしに、王や君主を立てた。
金や銀で偶像を作り、それを拝んで、
わたしの助けをはねのけた。
5サマリヤよ。
わたしはあの子牛など認めない。
あれはあなたたちが作った偶像だ。
あなたたちには全く腹が立つ。
いつになったら、あなたたちの中に正直者を
たった一人でも見つけることができるのだろう。
6いつになったら、自分たちが拝んでいる子牛を、
人間の手で作られたものだと認めるのだろう。
そんなものは神ではない。
だから粉々に砕いてしまわなければならない。
7彼らは風を蒔いて、つむじ風を刈り取る。
麦には穂が出ず、茎だけが立っている。
そのうち枯れて病気になり、実を結ばない。
たとえ実を結んでも、外国人に食べられてしまう。
8イスラエルは滅ぼされ、壊れた壺のようになって、
国々の間に横たわる。
9ひとりぼっちでさまよう野生のろばのようだ。
友と言えば、自分が雇った者たちだけで、
アッシリヤもその一人だ。
10たとえ多くの国から『友』を雇っても、
わたしはイスラエルをさばき、国から追い出す。
そうすればしばらくの間は、
イスラエルは自分たちのすばらしい王の重荷から
解放されることになる。
11エフライムは多くの祭壇を築いたが、
わたしを礼拝するためのものではない。
それは罪のための祭壇だ。
12たとえわたしが一万のおきてを授けても、
彼らはそれを自分のものではないと言い、
遠くにいるだれかのものにするだろう。
13この民は、いけにえの儀式を好むが、
わたしにとっては無意味なものだ。
わたしは彼らの罪の清算を要求し、罪を罰する。
彼らはエジプトに戻る。
14イスラエルは大きな宮殿を多く建て、
ユダは町々の防備を固めた。
しかし、自分たちを造った方を忘れてしまった。
だから、わたしはそれらの宮殿に火を送り、
それらの要塞を燃やしてしまう。
