2Ik geef U alle eer en lof, Here,
want U hebt mij uit de put gehaald.
U zorgde ervoor dat mijn vijanden
geen leedvermaak over mij konden hebben.
3Naar U heb ik geroepen om hulp,
Here, mijn God,
en U hebt mij genezen.
4U gaf mij het leven terug
en redde mij van de dood.
Ik hoefde nog niet te sterven.
5Laten al zijn volgelingen
psalmen zingen voor de Here
en zijn heilige naam loven en prijzen.
6Want zijn toorn
duurt niet lang,
maar zijn liefde
mogen wij ons hele leven ervaren.
ʼs Avonds
is er droefheid,
maar ʼs morgens
klinkt gejuich.
7In mijn overmoed dacht ik altijd
dat mij nooit iets zou overkomen,
8want U, Here, hield van mij
en ik stond stevig als een berg.
Maar zodra U Zich voor mij verborg,
was ik alle houvast kwijt.
9Ik riep U, Here,
en ik smeekte U om genade:
10‘Wat heeft het voor zin
als ik sterf en begraven word?
Het stof kan U niet eren en prijzen
of vertellen over uw trouw!
11Luister toch, Here, geef mij genade.
Och Here, wilt U mij helpen?’
12U veranderde mijn droevig gebed
in een blij danklied.
U nam mij mijn rouwkleding af
en bekleedde mij met vreugde.
13Zodat ik voortdurend lofliederen voor U zou zingen.
Here, mijn God,
ik zal U altijd blijven prijzen.

1I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
3O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

9What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
10Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.
11Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
