1Een bedevaartslied.
Als de Here de ballingen laat terugkomen in Jeruzalem,
zal het net zijn of wij dromen.
2Dan breken wij uit in gejuich
en iedereen lacht van blijdschap.
Dan zullen zelfs de ongelovige volken rondom ons zeggen
dat de Here wonderen bij ons doet.
3De Here heeft inderdaad grote wonderen onder ons gedaan.
Wat waren wij blij!
4Here, wilt U een ommekeer geven in onze situatie?
5Wie met verdriet in het hart huilend hun akkers inzaaien,
ervaren tegen de oogsttijd vaak grote vreugde.
6Ook al huilt iemand terwijl hij op pad is om te zaaien,
zeker is dat hij blij lachend de rijke schoven zal wegdragen.
Psalm 126
A song of ascents.
1When the Lord restored the fortunes of126:1 Or Lord brought back the captives to Zion,

2Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3The Lord has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
4Restore our fortunes,126:4 Or Bring back our captives Lord,
like streams in the Negev.
5Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
6Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.
