»Du bist mein geliebter Sohn, die Antwort auf meine Gebete! Was soll ich dir raten? 3Lass nicht deine ganze Kraft bei den Frauen, das hat schon viele Könige zu Fall gebracht31,3 Oder: und sei nicht darauf aus, viele Könige zu Fall zu bringen.!
4Höre, Lemuel, ein König soll sich nicht betrinken und dem Wein nicht ergeben sein! 5Er könnte sonst im Rausch das Recht vernachlässigen und die Not der Bedürftigen vergessen. 6Gebt den Wein lieber denen, die dahinsiechen und verbittert sind! 7Lasst sie trinken und im Rausch ihre Armut und Mühsal vergessen!
8Du aber tritt für die Leute ein, die sich selbst nicht verteidigen können! Schütze das Recht der Hilflosen! 9Sprich für sie und regiere gerecht! Hilf den Armen und Unterdrückten!«
Ein Loblied auf die tatkräftige Frau
10Eine tüchtige Frau – wer hat das Glück, sie zu finden? Sie ist wertvoller als viele Juwelen! 11Ihr Mann kann sich auf sie verlassen, sie bewahrt und vergrößert seinen Besitz. 12Ihr Leben lang tut sie ihm Gutes, niemals fügt sie ihm Leid zu.
13Sie besorgt sich Wolle und Flachs und verarbeitet es mit geschickten Händen. 14Von weit her schafft sie Nahrung herbei, wie ein Handelsschiff aus fernen Ländern.
15Noch vor Tagesanbruch steht sie auf und bereitet das Essen; den Mägden sagt sie, was zu tun ist. 16Sie hält Ausschau nach einem ertragreichen Feld und kauft es; von dem Geld, das ihre Arbeit einbringt, pflanzt sie einen Weinberg.
17Unermüdlich und voller Tatkraft ist sie bei der Arbeit; was getan werden muss, das packt sie an! 18Sie merkt, dass ihr Fleiß Gewinn bringt; beim Licht der Lampe arbeitet sie bis spät in die Nacht.
19Mit geschickten Händen spinnt sie ihr eigenes Garn. 20Sie erbarmt sich über die Armen und gibt den Bedürftigen, was sie brauchen. 21Den kalten Winter fürchtet sie nicht, denn ihre ganze Familie hat Kleider aus guter und warmer Wolle. 22Sie fertigt schöne Decken an, und ihre Kleider macht sie aus feinem Leinen und purpurroter Seide.
23Ihr Mann ist überall bekannt, und was er sagt, hat Gewicht im Rat der Stadt.
24Sie näht Kleidung aus wertvollen Stoffen und verkauft sie, ihre selbst gemachten Gürtel bietet sie den Händlern an.
25Sie ist eine würdevolle und angesehene Frau, zuversichtlich blickt sie in die Zukunft. 26Sie redet nicht gedankenlos, und ihre Anweisungen gibt sie freundlich. 27Sie kennt und überwacht alles, was in ihrem Haus vor sich geht – nur Faulheit kennt sie nicht!
28Ihre Kinder reden voller Stolz von ihr, und ihr Mann lobt sie mit überschwänglichen Worten: 29»Es gibt wohl viele gute und tüchtige Frauen, aber du übertriffst sie alle!«
30Anmut kann täuschen, und Schönheit vergeht – doch wenn eine Frau Ehrfurcht vor dem Herrn hat, dann verdient sie das höchste Lob! 31Rühmt sie für ihre Arbeit und Mühe! In der ganzen Stadt soll sie für ihre Taten geehrt werden!
