Nagadala sang Kalaglagan ang Pagsimba sa mga Dios-dios
1Kamo nga katawhan sang Israel, pamatii ninyo ang ginasiling sang Ginoo. 2Nagasiling siya, “Indi ninyo pagsunda ang pagginawi sang iban nga mga nasyon. Ini sila nahadlok sa mga palatandaan sa langit. Pero kamo iya indi magkahadlok sa sini nga mga palatandaan. 3Wala gid sing pulos ang kinabatasan sang sina nga mga tawo. Nagatapas sila sang kahoy sa kagulangan kag ginapakortihan nila ini sa panday. 4Ginadekorasyunan dayon ini sang pilak kag bulawan, kag ginalansangan sing maayo agod indi matumba. 5Ini nga mga dios-dios pareho sang tawo-tawo sa tunga sang talamnan nga indi makahambal. Kinahanglan pa ini nga hakwaton kay indi ini makalakat. Indi kamo magkahadlok sa sini nga mga dios-dios kay indi ini makahalit. Indi man ini makahimo sing maayo.”
6O Ginoo, wala gid sing pareho sa imo. Gamhanan ka kag halangdon ang imo ngalan. 7Sin-o ang indi magtahod sa imo, O Hari sang mga nasyon? Kay takos ka gid nga tahuron. Wala gid sing pareho sa imo sa tanan nga maalamon sa nagkalain-lain nga mga nasyon, ukon sa tanan nila nga mga hari. 8Mga balingag sila tanan kag buang-buang. Ang mga pagpanudlo parte sa ila mga dios-dios nga kahoy wala sing pulos. 9Nagpahimo sila sa mga panday kag platero sang mga dios-dios nga ginhaklapan sang pilak nga halin sa Tarshish kag sang bulawan nga halin sa Ufaz. Dayon ginpabayuan nila ini sang asol kag granate10:9 granate: sa English, purple. nga mga panapton nga gintahi sang eksperto nga mga manugtahi. 10Pero ang Ginoo amo ang matuod nga Dios. Siya ang buhi nga Dios kag wala sing katapusan nga Hari. Kon maakig siya, nagatay-og ang kalibutan kag wala sing nasyon nga makaagwanta sang iya kaakig. 11Isiling ini sa mga nagasimba sa iban nga mga dios: “Ang inyo mga dios nga wala nagtuga sang kalibutan kag kalangitan madula sa kalibutan.”
12Pero ang Dios amo ang naghimo sang kalangitan kag kalibutan paagi sa iya gahom kag kaalam. 13Sa iya pagmando nagahagunos ang tubig sa langit. Siya ang nagapaguwa sang mga panganod halin sa pinakamalayo nga parte sang kalibutan. Ginapakilat niya samtang nagaulan, kag nagapadala siya sang hangin halin sa talaguan sini. 14Ang mga nagasimba sa mga dios-dios mga balingag kag wala sing kaalam. Mahuy-an lang ang mga platero sang ila mga dios-dios, kay indi ini matuod. Wala ini sing kabuhi. 15Wala ini sing pulos kag talamayon. Magaabot ang tion nga malaglag sila tanan. 16Pero ang Dios ni Jacob10:16 Dios ni Jacob: sa literal, Bahin ni Jacob. indi pareho sina. Siya ang naghimo sang tanan nga butang, pati sang Israel, ang katawhan nga iya ginapanag-iyahan. Ginoo nga Makagagahom ang iya ngalan.
Ang Palaabuton nga Kalaglagan
17Mga katawhan sang Jerusalem, himusa ninyo ang inyo mga gamit kag maghalin, kay malapit na nga kibunon ang inyo siyudad. 18Kay amo ini ang ginasiling sang Ginoo: “Pamati! Pahalinon ko kamo sa sini nga duta. Paantuson ko kamo agod nga makita ninyo ang akon kaakig.”10:18 agod… kaakig: Indi klaro ang buot silingon sang Hebreo sini.
19Kaluluoy kita tungod sa sining aton kalaglagan. Indi na ini maumpawan. Pero kinahanglan nga batason naton ini. 20Guba na ang aton mga tolda; nagkalabugto na ang tanan nga higot sini. Wala na ang aton mga anak; wala na sing may nabilin nga magpatindog liwat sang aton mga tolda nga aton ginaestaran.
21Natabo ini sa aton kay mga balingag ang aton mga pangulo; wala sila nagadangop sa Ginoo. Gani wala sila nagauswag, kag ang tanan nila nga tinawo naglalapta. 22Pamatii ninyo ang puwerte nga ginahod sang mga soldado halin sa aminhan! Pagalaglagon nila ang mga banwa sang Juda, kag mangin puluy-an na lang ini sang talunon nga mga ido.10:22 talunon nga mga ido: sa English, jackals.
Ang Pangamuyo ni Jeremias
23O Ginoo, nahibaluan ko nga ang kabuhi sang tawo indi iya. Indi siya makabuot sang iya palaabuton. 24Disiplinaha kami,10:24 kami: sa Hebreo, ako. Nagahambal diri si Jeremias para sa iya mga kasimanwa. O Ginoo, pero ang ensakto lang. Himua ini indi tungod sa kaakig kay basi wala sing may mabilin sa amon. 25Ipaagom ang imo kaakig sa mga nasyon nga wala nagakilala sa imo, sa mga tawo nga wala nagadangop sa imo. Kay ginlaglag gid nila ang mga kaliwat ni Jacob kag ginpangguba ang ila mga puluy-an.
The Lord Is the Only True God
1People of Israel, listen to what the Lord is telling you. 2He says,
“Do not follow the practices of other nations.
Do not be terrified by warnings in the sky.
Do not be afraid, even though the nations are terrified by them.
3The practices of these nations are worthless.
People cut a tree out of the forest.
A skilled worker shapes the wood with a sharp tool.
4Others decorate it with silver and gold.
They use a hammer to nail it to the floor.
They want to keep it from falling down.
5The statues of their gods can’t speak.
They are like scarecrows in a field of cucumbers.
Their statues have to be carried around
because they can’t walk.
So do not be afraid of their gods.
They can’t do you any harm.
And they can’t do you any good either.”
6Lord, no one is like you.
You are great.
You are mighty and powerful.
7King of the nations,
everyone should have respect for you.
That’s what people should give you.
Among all the wise leaders of the nations
there is no one like you.
No one can compare with you in all their kingdoms.
8All of them are foolish. They don’t have any sense.
They think they are taught by worthless wooden gods.
9Hammered silver is brought from Tarshish.
Gold is brought from Uphaz.
People skilled in working with wood and gold make a statue.
Then they put blue and purple clothes on it.
The whole thing is made by skilled workers.
10But you are the only true God.
You are the only living God.
You are the King who rules forever.
When you are angry, the earth trembles with fear.
The nations can’t stand up under your anger.
11The Lord speaks to the Jews living in Babylon. He says, “Here is what you must tell the people of the nations. Tell them, ‘Your gods did not make the heavens and the earth. In fact, these gods will disappear from the earth. They will vanish from under the heavens.’ ”
12But God used his power to make the earth.
His wisdom set the world in place.
His understanding spread out the heavens.
13When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar.
He makes clouds rise from one end of the earth to the other.
He sends lightning along with the rain.
He brings the wind out from his storerooms.
14No one has any sense or knows anything at all.
Everyone who works with gold is put to shame by his gods.
The metal gods he has made are fakes.
They can’t even breathe.
15They are worthless things that people make fun of.
When the Lord judges them, they will be destroyed.
16The God of Jacob is not like them.
He gives his people everything they need.
He made everything that exists.
And that includes Israel.
They are the people who belong to him.
His name is the Lord Who Rules Over All.
The Land Will Be Destroyed
17People of Jerusalem, your enemies have surrounded you.
They are attacking you.
So gather up what belongs to you.
Then leave the land.
18The Lord says,
“I am about to throw out of this land
everyone who lives in it.
I will bring trouble on them.
They will be captured.”
19How terrible it will be for me!
I’ve been wounded!
And my wound can’t be healed!
In spite of that, I said to myself,
“I’m sick. But I’ll have to put up with it.”
20Jerusalem is like a tent that has been destroyed.
All its ropes have snapped.
My people have gone away from me.
Now no one is left to set up my tent.
I have no one to set up my shelter.
21The leaders of my people are like shepherds
who don’t have any sense.
They don’t ask the Lord for advice.
That’s why they don’t succeed.
And that’s why their whole flock
is scattered like sheep.
22Listen! A message is coming!
I hear the sound of a great army
marching down from the north!
It will turn Judah’s towns into a desert.
They will become a home for wild dogs.
Jeremiah Prays to the Lord
23Lord, I know that a person doesn’t control their own life.
They don’t direct their own steps.
24Correct me, Lord, but please be fair.
Don’t correct me when you are angry.
If you do, nothing will be left of me.
25Pour out your great anger on the nations.
They don’t pay any attention to you.
They refuse to worship you.
They have destroyed the people of Jacob.
They’ve wiped them out completely.
They’ve also destroyed the land they lived in.
