1นี่เป็นพระดำรัสจากองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ามาถึงเยเรมีย์ในปีที่สิบของรัชกาลกษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์แห่งยูดาห์ ซึ่งเป็นปีที่สิบแปดของกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ 2ขณะนั้นกองทัพของกษัตริย์บาบิโลนกำลังล้อมกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ส่วนผู้เผยพระวจนะเยเรมีย์ถูกกักตัวไว้ในลานทหารรักษาพระองค์ในพระราชวังของกษัตริย์ยูดาห์
3กษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์แห่งยูดาห์ให้คุมขังเยเรมีย์ไว้ที่นั่น พระองค์ตรัสว่า “เหตุใดเจ้าจึงพยากรณ์เช่นนั้น? เจ้าพูดว่า ‘องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า เรากำลังจะมอบกรุงนี้ให้กษัตริย์บาบิโลนยึดครอง 4กษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์แห่งยูดาห์จะหนีไม่พ้นเงื้อมมือของชาวบาบิโลน32:4 หรือชาวเคลเดียเช่นเดียวกับข้อ 24,25,28,29, และ 43 แต่จะตกอยู่ในเงื้อมมือของกษัตริย์บาบิโลนอย่างแน่นอน เขาจะได้เห็นเนบูคัดเนสซาร์กับตาและจะได้พูดกันซึ่งๆ หน้า 5เนบูคัดเนสซาร์จะนำตัวเศเดคียาห์ไปยังบาบิโลน และเขาต้องอยู่ที่นั่นจวบจนวันที่เราจัดการกับเนบูคัดเนสซาร์’ องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าประกาศว่า ‘ถ้าเจ้าต่อสู้กับทัพบาบิโลน เจ้าจะไม่ชนะ’ ”
6เยเรมีย์กล่าวว่า “พระดำรัสขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ามาถึงข้าพเจ้าดังนี้ว่า 7ลูกพี่ลูกน้องของเจ้าคือฮานัมเอลบุตรชัลลูมจะมาหาเจ้าและกล่าวว่า ‘ขอให้ท่านซื้อที่นาของข้าพเจ้าในเมืองอานาโธท ท่านมีสิทธิและหน้าที่ที่จะซื้อเอาไว้ในฐานะญาติที่สนิทที่สุด’
8“แล้วฮานัมเอลลูกพี่ลูกน้องของข้าพเจ้าก็มาเยี่ยมข้าพเจ้าที่ลานทหารรักษาพระองค์ตามที่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสไว้ และกล่าวว่า ‘ขอให้ซื้อที่นาของข้าพเจ้าในอานาโธทเขตเบนยามินเถิด เพราะท่านมีสิทธิ์ไถ่และครอบครอง ขอให้ซื้อไว้เป็นของท่าน’
“ข้าพเจ้ารู้แน่ว่านี่คือพระดำรัสขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า 9ดังนั้นข้าพเจ้าจึงซื้อที่ดินผืนนั้นจากฮานัมเอลลูกพี่ลูกน้องของข้าพเจ้า และชั่งเงินหนัก 17 เชเขล32:9 1 เชเขล คือเงินหนักประมาณ 11.5 กรัม มีค่าเท่ากับค่าแรงสองเดือนให้เขา 10ข้าพเจ้าลงชื่อและประทับตราในสัญญาซื้อขายต่อหน้าพยาน แล้วเอาเงินมาชั่งจ่ายให้เขา 11แล้วข้าพเจ้าหยิบสัญญาที่ประทับตราแล้วซึ่งระบุเงื่อนไขและข้อกำหนดต่างๆ พร้อมทั้งสำเนาซึ่งไม่ได้ประทับตรา 12ข้าพเจ้ายื่นเอกสารเหล่านี้ให้แก่บารุคบุตรเนริยาห์ซึ่งเป็นบุตรของมาอาเสอาห์ ต่อหน้าฮานัมเอลลูกพี่ลูกน้องของข้าพเจ้าและพยานทั้งหลายที่ได้ลงนามในสัญญา และต่อหน้าชาวยิวทั้งปวงที่นั่งอยู่ในลานทหารรักษาพระองค์
13“แล้วข้าพเจ้ากล่าวกำชับบารุคต่อหน้าคนเหล่านั้นว่า 14‘พระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสว่า จงนำเอกสารเหล่านี้ทั้งสัญญาซื้อขายที่ประทับตราแล้วกับสำเนาเก็บไว้ในไหเพื่อจะคงทนอยู่ได้นาน 15เพราะพระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสดังนี้ว่า บ้านเรือน ที่นา และสวนองุ่นจะมีการซื้อขายกันอีกในแผ่นดินนี้’
16“หลังจากที่มอบสัญญาซื้อขายให้แก่บารุคบุตรเนริยาห์แล้ว ข้าพเจ้าอธิษฐานต่อองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าว่า
17“ข้าแต่พระยาห์เวห์องค์เจ้าชีวิตพระองค์ได้ทรงสร้างฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดินโลกด้วยฤทธานุภาพอันยิ่งใหญ่และด้วยพระกรที่เหยียดออก ไม่มีสิ่งใดยากเกินไปสำหรับพระองค์ 18พระองค์ทรงแสดงความรักต่อคนนับพัน แต่ทรงนำโทษทัณฑ์เพราะบาปทั้งหลายของบิดาให้ตกอยู่แก่ลูกหลานของเขา ข้าแต่พระเจ้าผู้ยิ่งใหญ่และทรงฤทธานุภาพ ผู้ทรงพระนามว่าพระยาห์เวห์ผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ 19พระดำริของพระองค์ยิ่งใหญ่ พระราชกิจของพระองค์เกรียงไกร ทุกวิถีทางของมนุษย์ก็ประจักษ์แจ้งต่อพระเนตรของพระองค์ ทรงปูนบำเหน็จแก่ทุกคนตามควรแก่ความประพฤติและการกระทำของเขา 20พระองค์ทรงกระทำหมายสำคัญและปาฏิหาริย์ต่างๆ ในอียิปต์และยังทรงกระทำมาจนถึงทุกวันนี้ทั้งในอิสราเอลและท่ามกลางมวลมนุษยชาติ ทำให้พระกิตติศัพท์ของพระองค์เลื่องลือจวบจนทุกวันนี้ 21ทรงนำอิสราเอลประชากรของพระองค์ออกจากอียิปต์ด้วยหมายสำคัญและการอัศจรรย์ ด้วยพระหัตถ์อันทรงฤทธิ์และพระกรที่เหยียดออก ด้วยความน่าสะพรึงกลัวยิ่งนัก 22พระองค์ประทานดินแดนนี้แก่อิสราเอลตามที่ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของพวกเขา เป็นดินแดนที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ด้วยน้ำนมและน้ำผึ้ง 23อิสราเอลเข้ามาครอบครองดินแดนแห่งนี้ แต่ไม่ได้เชื่อฟังพระองค์ ไม่ได้ปฏิบัติตามบทบัญญัติและคำบัญชาของพระองค์ ฉะนั้นพระองค์จึงทรงนำภัยพิบัติทั้งหมดนี้มาเหนือพวกเขา
24“ดูเถิด เชิงเทินถูกสร้างขึ้นเพื่อเข้ายึดเมือง เนื่องจากสงคราม การกันดารอาหาร และโรคระบาด กรุงนี้จะตกเป็นของชาวบาบิโลนซึ่งกำลังโจมตีเมือง เป็นไปตามที่พระองค์ตรัสไว้ ดังที่ทรงทอดพระเนตรเห็นอยู่ขณะนี้ 25แต่ถึงแม้กรุงนี้จะตกเป็นของชาวบาบิโลน พระองค์ผู้ทรงเป็นพระยาห์เวห์องค์เจ้าชีวิตก็ยังคงตรัสกับข้าพระองค์ว่า ‘จงจ่ายเงินซื้อที่ดินต่อหน้าพยาน’ ”
26แล้วพระดำรัสขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ามาถึงเยเรมีย์ว่า 27“เราคือพระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของมวลมนุษยชาติ มีสิ่งใดยากเกินไปสำหรับเราหรือ? 28ด้วยเหตุนี้องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า เรากำลังจะยกกรุงนี้ให้แก่ชาวบาบิโลนและกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์แห่งบาบิโลนซึ่งจะพิชิตกรุงนี้ 29ชาวบาบิโลนซึ่งมาโจมตีจะเข้ามาจุดไฟเผากรุงและเผาผลาญบ้านเรือนที่ผู้คนเคยใช้ดาดฟ้าเป็นที่เผาเครื่องหอมถวายพระบาอัล และเป็นที่เทเครื่องดื่มบูชาสังเวยพระอื่นๆ อันเป็นการยั่วยุโทสะของเรา
30“ชาวอิสราเอลและยูดาห์เอาแต่ทำชั่วต่อหน้าต่อตาเรานับตั้งแต่เยาว์วัย แท้จริงประชากรอิสราเอลไม่ได้ทำสิ่งอื่นใดเว้นแต่ได้ยั่วโทสะเราด้วยสิ่งชั่วร้ายที่พวกเขาทำ องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าประกาศดังนั้น 31นับตั้งแต่วันที่สร้างขึ้นจวบจนบัดนี้ กรุงนี้ได้ยั่วโทสะเราจนเราต้องกำจัดให้พ้นหน้าเรา 32ประชากรอิสราเอลและยูดาห์ ไม่ว่ากษัตริย์ ข้าราชบริพาร ปุโรหิต ผู้เผยพระวจนะ ชาวยูดาห์และชาวกรุงเยรูซาเล็มล้วนแต่ยั่วโทสะเราด้วยความชั่วช้าทั้งสิ้นที่เขาทำ 33เขาหันหลังให้เรา ไม่ใช่หันหน้ามาหาเรา แม้เราสอนเขาครั้งแล้วครั้งเล่า เขาก็ไม่ยอมฟัง ไม่ยอมรับการตีสั่งสอน 34เขาตั้งเทวรูปอันน่าสะอิดสะเอียนไว้ในนิเวศซึ่งใช้ชื่อของเรา ทำให้นิเวศนี้เป็นมลทิน 35เขาสร้างสถานบูชาบนที่สูงสำหรับพระบาอัลในหุบเขาเบนฮินโนม เพื่อบูชายัญลูกชายลูกสาวของเขา32:35 หรือให้ลูกชายลูกสาวของเขาลุยไฟแก่พระโมเลค ทั้งๆ ที่เราไม่เคยสั่งและไม่เคยอยู่ในความคิดของเราว่าเขาจะทำสิ่งที่น่าเกลียดชังถึงเพียงนั้น และทำให้ยูดาห์ทำบาป
36“พระองค์ตรัสถึงเมืองนี้ว่า ‘เราจะให้มันตกเป็นของกษัตริย์บาบิโลนด้วยสงคราม การกันดารอาหาร และโรคระบาด’ แต่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสดังนี้ว่า 37เราจะนำประชากรของเราจากดินแดนต่างๆ ซึ่งเราเนรเทศเขาออกไปด้วยความโกรธกริ้วและด้วยโทสะแรงกล้า เราจะนำพวกเขากลับมาที่นี่ และให้เขายังชีพอยู่ด้วยความปลอดภัยอย่างแน่นอน 38เขาจะเป็นประชากรของเรา และเราจะเป็นพระเจ้าของเขา 39เราจะให้เขาร่วมกายร่วมใจเป็นหนึ่งเดียวที่จะยำเกรงเราเสมอ เพื่อประโยชน์สุขของเขาเองและของลูกหลานที่สืบต่อมา 40เราจะตั้งพันธสัญญานิรันดร์กับเขา คือเราจะทำสิ่งที่ดีงามแก่เขาอย่างไม่ลดละ เราจะดลใจเขาให้ยำเกรงเรา เพื่อเขาจะไม่หันหนีจากเราอีกเลย 41เราจะชื่นชมยินดีที่ได้ทำดีต่อเขา และจะปลูกเขาไว้ในดินแดนนี้ด้วยสุดจิตสุดใจของเราอย่างแน่นอน
42“องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า เช่นเดียวกับที่เราได้นำหายนะร้ายแรงทั้งปวงมาเหนือชนชาตินี้ เราก็จะอำนวยความเจริญรุ่งเรืองทั้งปวงที่เราสัญญาไว้กับพวกเขา 43จะมีการซื้อขายที่ดินกันอีกครั้งในดินแดนแห่งนี้ซึ่งพวกเจ้ากล่าวกันว่า ‘ดินแดนนี้เป็นที่ถูกทิ้งร้าง ไม่มีมนุษย์หรือสัตว์อาศัยอยู่ เพราะตกอยู่ในมือของชาวบาบิโลน’ 44จะมีการจ่ายเงินซื้อขายที่ดิน จะมีการลงนามประทับตราและมีพยานรับรองสัญญาในเขตแดนเบนยามิน ในหมู่บ้านต่างๆ รอบกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ในหัวเมืองต่างๆ ของยูดาห์ ในดินแดนเทือกเขา เชิงเขาด้านตะวันตกและในเนเกบ เพราะเราจะให้พวกเขากลับสู่สภาพดีดังเดิม32:44 หรือจะนำพวกเขากลับมาจากการเป็นเชลยองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าประกาศดังนั้น”
1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar. 2For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house. 3For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it; 4And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes; 5And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.
6¶ And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 7Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it. 8So Hanameel mine uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD. 9And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle’s son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.32.9 seventeen…: or, seven shekels and ten pieces of silver 10And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.32.10 subscribed…: Heb. wrote in the book 11So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open: 12And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.
13¶ And I charged Baruch before them, saying, 14Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days. 15For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.
16¶ Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying, 17Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:32.17 too…: or, hid from thee 18Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name, 19Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:32.19 work: Heb. doing 20Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day; 21And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror; 22And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey; 23And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them: 24Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.32.24 mounts: or, engines of shot 25And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.32.25 for the: or, though the
26¶ Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying, 27Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? 28Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it: 29And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger. 30For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD. 31For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,32.31 a provocation…: Heb. for my anger 32Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 33And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.32.33 back: Heb. neck 34But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it. 35And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
36¶ And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; 37Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: 38And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:32.39 for ever: Heb. all days 40And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.32.40 from them: Heb. from after them 41Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.32.41 assuredly: Heb. in truth, or, stability 42For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them. 43And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans. 44Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
