ลูกฉลาดทำให้พ่อสุขใจยินดี
ส่วนลูกโง่เขลาทำให้แม่เศร้าใจ
2ทรัพย์สมบัติที่ได้มาอย่างทุจริตนั้นไม่จีรังยั่งยืน
แต่ความชอบธรรมช่วยกอบกู้ให้พ้นจากความตาย
3องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าไม่ทรงปล่อยให้คนชอบธรรมหิวโหย
และไม่ทรงปล่อยให้คนชั่วร้ายสมปรารถนา
4มือที่เกียจคร้านทำให้ยากจน
ส่วนมือที่ขยันหมั่นเพียรทำให้มั่งคั่ง
5ผู้ที่สะสมพืชผลในฤดูร้อนเป็นลูกที่รอบคอบ
ส่วนผู้ที่หลับใหลในฤดูเก็บเกี่ยวเป็นลูกที่ทำให้ขายหน้า
6พระพรอยู่เหนือศีรษะของคนชอบธรรม
แต่ความทารุณโหดร้ายไหลท่วมปากของคนชั่ว10:6 หรือแต่ปากของคนชั่วซุกซ่อนความโหดร้ายทารุณ
7ชื่อของคนชอบธรรมจะใช้เป็นคำอวยพร
แต่ชื่อของคนชั่วจะเสื่อมเสียไป

ผู้ที่กระพือคำนินทาว่าร้ายเป็นคนโง่
19ไม่อาจหยุดความบาปได้ด้วยการพูดมาก
ผู้ที่รู้จักยั้งลิ้นของตนก็เป็นคนฉลาด
20ลิ้นของคนชอบธรรมคือเงินเนื้อดี
ส่วนจิตใจของคนชั่วก็ไม่ค่อยมีค่า
21ริมฝีปากของคนชอบธรรมหล่อเลี้ยงคนมากมาย
แต่คนโง่ตายเพราะขาดสามัญสำนึก
22พระพรขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้านำความมั่งคั่งมาให้
และไม่ได้ทรงแถมความทุกข์ร้อนมาด้วย
23คนโง่เพลิดเพลินกับการทำชั่ว
แต่ผู้มีความเข้าใจเพลิดเพลินในสติปัญญา
24สิ่งที่คนชั่วหวาดกลัวจะมาถึงเขา
ส่วนสิ่งที่คนชอบธรรมปรารถนาจะบรรลุผล
25เมื่อมรสุมพัดกระหน่ำ คนชั่วร้ายก็สิ้นไป
แต่คนชอบธรรมยืนหยัดมั่นคงเป็นนิตย์
26เหมือนน้ำส้มกับฟัน และควันกับตา
คนเกียจคร้านก็ทำให้ผู้ที่ใช้งานเขาขัดเคืองเช่นนั้น
27ความยำเกรงองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าต่อชีวิตให้ยืนยาว
แต่ปีเดือนของคนชั่วถูกตัดทอน
28ความหวังของคนชอบธรรมจบลงด้วยความปีติยินดี
ส่วนความหวังทั้งสิ้นของคนชั่วก็สูญเปล่า
29ทางขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเป็นป้อมปราการของคนไร้ที่ติ
แต่เป็นความหายนะของคนชั่ว
30คนชอบธรรมจะไม่มีวันถูกถอนรากถอนโคน
ส่วนคนชั่วร้ายจะอยู่บนโลกได้ไม่นาน
31ปากของคนชอบธรรมให้ปัญญา
แต่ลิ้นที่ปลิ้นปล้อนจะถูกตัดออก
32ริมฝีปากของคนชอบธรรมรู้ว่าอะไรเหมาะสม
ส่วนปากของคนชั่วรู้แต่สิ่งที่ตลบตะแลง
1The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

24The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. 25As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation. 26As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
27The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.10.27 prolongeth: Heb. addeth 28The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
29The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. 30The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
