พระเยซูทรงส่งสาวก 72 คนออกไป
(มธ.11:21-23,25-27; 13:16,17; ลก.9:3-5)
1หลังจากนี้พระเยซูทรงตั้งสาวกอีก 72 คน10:1 สำเนาต้นฉบับบางสำเนาว่าเจ็ดสิบคนเช่นเดียวกับข้อ 17ให้เขาออกไปเป็นคู่ๆ ล่วงหน้าพระองค์ไปยังทุกเมืองและทุกแห่งที่พระองค์จะเสด็จ 2พระองค์ตรัสกับเขาว่า “งานเก็บเกี่ยวมีมากแต่คนงานมีน้อยนัก เหตุฉะนั้นจงทูลขอต่อพระองค์ผู้ทรงเป็นเจ้าแห่งการเก็บเกี่ยวให้ส่งคนงานมายังทุ่งแห่งการเก็บเกี่ยวของพระองค์ 3ไปเถิด! เราส่งท่านออกไปเหมือนลูกแกะท่ามกลางสุนัขป่า 4อย่าเอาถุงใส่เงิน หรือย่าม หรือรองเท้าไป และไม่ต้องแวะทักทายใครระหว่างทาง
5“เมื่อท่านเข้าไปในบ้านใด ก่อนอื่นจงพูดว่า ‘สันติสุขจงมีแก่บ้านนี้’ 6ถ้าผู้รักสันติอยู่ที่นั่น สันติสุขของท่านก็ดำรงอยู่กับเขา ถ้าไม่เป็นเช่นนั้น สันติสุขก็กลับคืนมาสู่ท่าน 7จงพักอยู่ที่บ้านนั้นและดื่มกินสิ่งที่เขาจัดมาให้ท่าน เพราะคนงานสมควรได้รับค่าจ้างของตน อย่าเที่ยวย้ายจากบ้านนี้ไปบ้านนั้น
8“เมื่อท่านเข้าไปในเมืองใดและได้รับการต้อนรับ จงกินสิ่งที่เขาจัดให้ท่าน 9จงรักษาคนเจ็บป่วยที่นั่นและบอกพวกเขาว่า ‘อาณาจักรของพระเจ้าอยู่ใกล้พวกท่านแล้ว’ 10แต่เมื่อไปยังเมืองใดที่ไม่มีใครต้อนรับ จงไปที่กลางถนนและกล่าวว่า 11‘แม้แต่ฝุ่นของเมืองของท่านซึ่งติดอยู่ที่เท้าของเรา เรายังเช็ดออกเป็นการกล่าวโทษท่าน แต่กระนั้นจงแน่ใจในข้อนี้ คืออาณาจักรของพระเจ้าอยู่ใกล้แล้ว’ 12เราบอกท่านว่า ในวันนั้นโทษของเมืองโสโดมจะเบากว่าโทษของเมืองนั้น”
13“วิบัติแก่เจ้า เมืองโคราซิน! วิบัติแก่เจ้า เมืองเบธไซดา! เพราะหากการอัศจรรย์ที่ทำในเมืองของเจ้าได้ทำในเมืองไทระและเมืองไซดอน พวกเขาคงนุ่งห่มผ้ากระสอบนั่งจมกองขี้เถ้าและกลับใจใหม่นานแล้ว 14แต่ในวันพิพากษา โทษของเมืองไทระและเมืองไซดอนจะเบากว่าโทษของเจ้า 15ส่วนเจ้า เมืองคาเปอรนาอุม เจ้าจะถูกยกขึ้นเทียมฟ้าหรือ? ไม่เลย เจ้าจะต้องลงไปในเหวลึก10:15 ภาษากรีกว่าแดนมรณาต่างหาก
16“ผู้ที่ฟังพวกท่านก็ฟังเรา ผู้ที่ไม่ยอมรับพวกท่าน ก็ไม่ยอมรับเรา ผู้ที่ไม่ยอมรับเรา ก็ไม่ยอมรับพระองค์ผู้ทรงส่งเรามา”
17สาวกทั้ง 72 คนกลับมาด้วยความยินดีและทูลว่า “พระองค์เจ้าข้า โดยพระนามพระองค์ แม้แต่ผีก็สยบต่อพวกข้าพระองค์”
18พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า “เราเห็นซาตานตกจากฟ้าสวรรค์เหมือนฟ้าแลบ 19เราให้สิทธิอำนาจแก่พวกท่านที่จะเหยียบงูร้ายและแมงป่อง และที่จะพิชิตฤทธิ์อำนาจทั้งปวงของศัตรู ไม่มีสิ่งใดจะทำอันตรายพวกท่านได้ 20อย่างไรก็ตาม อย่าชื่นชมยินดีที่วิญญาณต่างๆ ยอมสยบให้พวกท่าน แต่จงชื่นชมยินดีที่ชื่อของพวกท่านถูกจดไว้ในสวรรค์”
21ขณะนั้นพระเยซูทรงเปี่ยมด้วยความชื่นชมยินดีโดยทางพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ และตรัสว่า “ข้าแต่พระบิดา องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าแห่งฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดินโลก ข้าพระองค์สรรเสริญพระองค์ เพราะพระองค์ทรงปิดบังสิ่งเหล่านี้จากคนฉลาดและผู้รู้ และทรงเปิดเผยแก่บรรดาเด็กเล็กๆ ข้าแต่พระบิดา เพราะพระองค์ทรงเห็นชอบเช่นนั้น”
22“พระบิดาของเราทรงมอบสิ่งทั้งปวงแก่เรา ไม่มีใครรู้ว่าพระบุตรเป็นใครนอกจากพระบิดา และไม่มีใครรู้ว่าพระบิดาเป็นใครนอกจากพระบุตรกับบรรดาผู้ที่พระบุตรทรงเลือกที่จะเปิดเผยพระบิดาแก่เขา”
23จากนั้นพระองค์ทรงหันมาทางเหล่าสาวกและตรัสกับพวกเขาเป็นการส่วนพระองค์ว่า “ความสุขมีแก่ดวงตาทั้งหลาย ซึ่งได้เห็นสิ่งที่พวกท่านเห็น 24เพราะเราบอกพวกท่านว่า ผู้เผยพระวจนะมากมายและกษัตริย์หลายองค์ปรารถนาจะเห็นสิ่งที่พวกท่านเห็น แต่ไม่ได้เห็น และอยากได้ยินสิ่งที่พวกท่านได้ยินแต่ไม่ได้ยิน”
คำอุปมาเรื่องชาวสะมาเรียใจดี
(มธ.22:34-40; มก.12:28-31)
25ครั้งหนึ่งมีผู้เชี่ยวชาญทางบทบัญญัติคนหนึ่งยืนขึ้นทดสอบพระเยซู โดยทูลถามว่า “ท่านอาจารย์ ข้าพเจ้าต้องทำอย่างไรจึงจะได้ชีวิตนิรันดร์?”
26พระองค์ตรัสว่า “หนังสือบทบัญญัติเขียนไว้ว่าอย่างไร? ท่านอ่านได้ว่าอย่างไร?”
27เขาทูลว่า “ ‘จงรักองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระเจ้าของท่านอย่างสุดใจ สุดจิต สุดกำลัง และสุดความคิดของท่าน’10:27 ฉธบ.6:5และ ‘จงรักเพื่อนบ้านเหมือนรักตนเอง’10:27 ลนต.19:18”
28พระเยซูตรัสว่า “ท่านตอบถูกแล้ว จงไปทำเช่นนั้น แล้วท่านจะได้ชีวิต”
29แต่คนนั้นอยากจะพิสูจน์ว่าตนเองถูกต้อง จึงทูลถามพระเยซูว่า “แล้วใครคือเพื่อนบ้านของข้าพเจ้า?”
30พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า “ชายคนหนึ่งถูกโจรปล้นระหว่างเดินทางจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มไปเมืองเยรีโค พวกโจรชิงเอาเสื้อผ้าจากตัวเขา ทุบตีเขาปางตายแล้วจากไป 31ปุโรหิตคนหนึ่งบังเอิญผ่านมาทางนั้น เมื่อเห็นชายคนนั้นก็เลี่ยงไปอีกฟากหนึ่ง 32คนเลวีก็เช่นกัน เมื่อมาถึงที่นั่นและเห็นเขา ก็เลี่ยงไปอีกฟากหนึ่ง 33แต่ชาวสะมาเรียคนหนึ่งเดินทางมาถึงที่ที่คนนั้นอยู่ เมื่อเห็นเขาก็สงสาร 34เขาเข้าไป แล้วเอาเหล้าองุ่นกับน้ำมันเทใส่แผลและพันแผลให้ แล้วประคองชายผู้นั้นขึ้นขี่ลาของตน พามาที่โรงแรม และดูแลเขา 35วันรุ่งขึ้นเขามอบเหรียญเงินสองเหรียญ10:35 ภาษากรีกว่าสองเหรียญเดนาริอันให้ผู้ดูแลโรงแรม พร้อมกับกล่าวว่า ‘ช่วยดูแลเขาด้วย และเมื่อข้าพเจ้ากลับมาจะคืนค่าใช้จ่ายส่วนที่เกินกว่านี้ให้’
36“ท่านคิดว่าในสามคนนี้ คนไหนคือเพื่อนบ้านของชายที่ถูกโจรปล้น?”
37ผู้เชี่ยวชาญทางบทบัญญัติทูลตอบว่า “คนที่เมตตาเขา” พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า “จงไปทำเช่นเดียวกัน”
ที่บ้านของมารธากับมารีย์
38ในระหว่างการเดินทาง พระเยซูกับเหล่าสาวกมาถึงหมู่บ้านแห่งหนึ่ง ที่นั่นมีผู้หญิงชื่อมารธา เปิดบ้านของนางต้อนรับพระองค์ 39มารีย์น้องสาวของมารธานั่งอยู่แทบพระบาทขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และฟังคำตรัสของพระองค์ 40ฝ่ายมารธาวุ่นอยู่กับการตระเตรียมสิ่งทั้งปวงที่ต้องทำ นางมาทูลพระองค์ว่า “พระองค์เจ้าข้า พระองค์ไม่ทรงห่วงใยบ้างหรือที่น้องสาวปล่อยให้ข้าพระองค์ทำงานอยู่คนเดียว โปรดบอกให้นางมาช่วยข้าพระองค์เถิด!”
41องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสตอบว่า “มารธา มารธาเอ๋ย เธอว้าวุ่นกังวลในหลายสิ่งนัก 42แต่มีเพียงสิ่งเดียวเท่านั้นที่จำเป็น10:42 สำเนาต้นฉบับบางสำเนาว่ามีเพียงสองสามสิ่ง หรือสิ่งเดียวเท่านั้นที่จำเป็น มารีย์ได้เลือกสิ่งที่ดีกว่า และไม่มีใครจะเอาสิ่งนั้นไปจากนางได้”
Jesus sends out the seventy-two
1After this the Lord appointed seventy-two10:1 Some manuscripts seventy; also in verse 17 others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.
5‘When you enter a house, first say, “Peace to this house.” 6If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
8‘When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9Heal those there who are ill and tell them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.” 10But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 11“Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: the kingdom of God has come near.” 12I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.
13‘Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.10:15 That is, the realm of the dead
16‘Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.’
17The seventy-two returned with joy and said, ‘Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.’
18He replied, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.’
21At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
22‘All things have been committed to me by my Father. No-one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no-one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’
23Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, ‘Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. 24For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.’
The parable of the good Samaritan
25On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. ‘Teacher,’ he asked, ‘what must I do to inherit eternal life?’
26‘What is written in the Law?’ he replied. ‘How do you read it?’
27He answered, ‘ “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind”10:27 Deut. 6:5; and, “Love your neighbour as yourself.”10:27 Lev. 19:18’
28‘You have answered correctly,’ Jesus replied. ‘Do this and you will live.’
29But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbour?’
30In reply Jesus said: ‘A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half-dead. 31A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33But a Samaritan, as he travelled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35The next day he took out two denarii10:35 A denarius was the usual daily wage of a day labourer (see Matt. 20:2). and gave them to the innkeeper. “Look after him,” he said, “and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.”
36‘Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?’
37The expert in the law replied, ‘The one who had mercy on him.’
Jesus told him, ‘Go and do likewise.’
At the home of Martha and Mary
38As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’
41‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, 42but few things are needed – or indeed only one.10:42 Some manuscripts but only one thing is needed Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’
