9คนเราได้อะไรจากการตรากตรำทำงานหรือ? 10ข้าพเจ้าเห็นภาระซึ่งพระเจ้าทรงวางไว้บนมนุษย์ 11พระองค์ทรงทำให้ทุกสิ่งงดงามตามเวลาของมัน ทั้งทรงตั้งนิรันดร์กาลไว้ในจิตใจของมนุษย์ ถึงอย่างนั้นมนุษย์ก็ไม่สามารถหยั่งรู้ถึงสิ่งที่พระเจ้าทรงทำตั้งแต่ต้นจนจบได้ 12ข้าพเจ้ารู้ว่าสำหรับมนุษย์ไม่มีอะไรดีไปกว่าการทำตัวให้มีความสุข และทำดีขณะยังมีชีวิตอยู่ 13คนเราทุกคนควรกิน ดื่ม และหาความอิ่มใจในการตรากตรำทำงานทั้งสิ้น เพราะนี่คือของขวัญจากพระเจ้า 14ข้าพเจ้ารู้ว่าทุกสิ่งที่พระเจ้าทรงทำจะดำรงอยู่นิรันดร์ ไม่สามารถเพิ่มอะไรเข้าไป หรือตัดทอนอะไรออกได้ พระเจ้าทรงทำไว้เพื่อมนุษย์จะยำเกรงพระองค์
15อะไรก็ตามที่เป็นอยู่ และอะไรที่จะเกิดขึ้น
ก็เป็นอยู่มาก่อนแล้ว
และพระเจ้าจะทรงนำอดีตมาพิพากษาอีก3:15 หรือพระเจ้าจะทรงเรียกอดีตให้หวนกลับมาอีก
16ยิ่งกว่านั้น ภายใต้ดวงอาทิตย์ ข้าพเจ้ายังเห็นอีกว่า
ในที่แห่งการพิพากษาก็มีความชั่วร้ายอยู่ด้วย
ในที่ของความยุติธรรมก็มีความเลวทรามอยู่ด้วย
17ข้าพเจ้ารำพึงว่า
“พระเจ้าจะทรงนำทั้งคนชอบธรรมและคนอธรรมมาพิพากษา
เพราะจะมีเวลาสำหรับทุกเรื่อง
มีเวลาสำหรับการกระทำทุกอย่าง”
18ข้าพเจ้าคิดอีกว่า “สำหรับมนุษย์ พระเจ้าทรงทดสอบพวกเขา ก็เพื่อพวกเขาจะเห็นว่าตนเองก็เหมือนสัตว์ 19ชะตากรรมของมนุษย์ก็เหมือนของสัตว์ ทั้งสองมีอันเป็นไปเหมือนกัน ฝ่ายหนึ่งตาย อีกฝ่ายหนึ่งก็ตาย ต่างก็มีลมปราณ3:19 หรือวิญญาณเช่นกัน มนุษย์ไม่ได้เปรียบมากกว่าสัตว์ ทุกสิ่งล้วนอนิจจัง 20ทั้งสองพวกต่างไปสู่ที่แห่งเดียวกัน ล้วนมาจากธุลีดินและต้องกลับกลายเป็นธุลีดิน 21ใครจะรู้ได้ว่าจิตวิญญาณของมนุษย์ขึ้นไปยังเบื้องบนหรือไม่ และวิญญาณของสัตว์3:21 หรือใครจะรู้จักจิตวิญญาณของมนุษย์ซึ่งขึ้นสู่เบื้องบน หรือวิญญาณของสัตว์ซึ่งลงสู่พิภพโลกหรือไม่?”
22ฉะนั้นข้าพเจ้าเห็นว่าสำหรับมนุษย์แล้ว ไม่มีอะไรดีไปกว่าที่จะสนุกกับงาน เพราะนั่นเป็นส่วนของเขา ใครเล่าจะทำให้เขาเห็นได้ว่าจะมีอะไรเกิดขึ้นหลังจากเขา?
