Ang mga Pagtatagumpay ni Haring David
(1 Cro. 18:1-17)
1Kinalaunan, natalo at nasakop ni David ang mga Filisteo. Inagaw niya mula sa kanila ang Meteg Amma. 2Natalo rin ni David ang mga Moabita. Nakahanay na pinahiga niya ang mga ito sa lupa, at sinukat niya ang mga ito sa pamamagitan ng isang lubid. Ang mga napabilang sa sukat na dalawang lubid ay pinagpapatay, at ang mga napabilang naman sa sukat ng pangatlong lubid ay hinayaang mabuhay. Ang mga Moabitang hinayaang mabuhay ay nagpasakop kay David at nagbayad sa kanya ng buwis.
3Nakipaglaban din si David kay Haring Hadadezer ng Zoba, na anak ni Rehob, habang papunta si Hadadezer sa lupaing malapit sa Ilog ng Eufrates para bawiin ito. 4Naagaw nila David ang 1,000 niyang karwahe, 7,000 mangangarwahe,8:4 1,000 niyang karwahe, 7,000 mangangarwahe: Itoʼy ayon sa tekstong Septuagint (at sa 1 Cro. 18:4). Sa Hebreo, 1,700 mangangarwahe. at 20,000 sundalo. Pinilayan nila David ang mga kabayo na humihila ng mga karwahe, maliban lang sa 100 kabayo na itinira nila para gamitin.
5Nang dumating ang mga Arameo8:5 Arameo: o, taga-Syria. Ganito rin sa talatang 6. mula sa Damascus para tulungan si Hadadezer, pinatay nila David ang 22,000 sa mga ito. 6Nagpatayo agad si David ng mga kampo sa Damascus, ang lugar ng mga Arameo. At naging sakop niya ang mga ito, at nagbayad sila ng buwis sa kanya. Pinagtagumpay ng Panginoon si David sa bawat labanang pupuntahan niya. 7Kinuha ni David ang mga gintong kalasag na pag-aari ng mga opisyal ni Hadadezer, at dinala ang mga ito sa Jerusalem. 8Kinuha rin niya ang napakaraming tanso sa Beta8:8 Beta: Sa ibang mga tekstong Septuagint (at sa 1 Cro. 18:8), Teba. at Berotai, mga bayang sakop ni Hadadezer.
9Nabalitaan ni Haring Tou8:9 Tou: o, Toi. ng Hamat na tinalo ni David ang buong sundalo ni Hadadezer. 10Kaya pinapunta niya ang anak niyang si Joram kay Haring David para kamustahin at batiin sa pagkakapanalo niya kay Hadadezer. (Noon pa man ay magkalaban na sina Tou at Hadadezer.) Nagdala si Joram ng mga regalong gawa sa pilak, ginto at tanso. 11Inihandog ito ni Haring David sa Panginoon, gaya ng ginawa niya sa mga pilak at ginto na nasamsam niya mula lahat ng bansang tinalo niya – 12ang Edom,8:12 Edom: Ito ay ayon sa Septuagint, Syriac at sa iba pang tekstong Hebreo. Sa ibang tekstong Hebreo, Aram. Moab, Ammon, Filistia at Amalek. Inihandog din niya ang mga nasamsam nila mula kay Haring Hadadezer ng Zoba, na anak ni Rehob. 13Naging tanyag pa si David nang mapatay niya ang 18,000 Edomita8:13 Edomita: Itoʼy ayon sa tekstong Septuagint at Syriac; sa Hebreo, Aram (na ang ibig sabihin, mga Arameo.) sa lambak na tinatawag na Asin. 14Naglagay siya ng mga kampo sa buong Edom, at sinakop niya ang mga Edomita. Pinagtagumpay ng Panginoon si David sa bawat labanang pinupuntahan niya.
Ang mga Opisyal ni David
15Naghari si David sa buong Israel. Ginawa niya ang matuwid at tama para sa lahat ng mamamayan niya. 16Si Joab na anak ni Zeruya ang namumuno sa mga sundalo niya. Si Jehoshafat naman na anak ni Ahilud ang namamahala sa mga kasulatan ng kaharian. 17Sina Zadok na anak ni Ahitub at Ahimelec na anak ni Abiatar ang mga punong pari. Si Seraya ang kalihim. 18Si Benaya na anak ni Jehoyada ang namumuno sa mga Kereteo at Peleteo na mga personal niyang tagapagbantay. At ang mga anak niyang lalaki ang mga tagapayo8:18 tagapayo: o, pari. niya.
1And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.8.1 Metheg-ammah: or, the bridle of Ammah 2And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.
3¶ David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.8.3 Hadadezer: or, Hadarezer 4And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.8.4 from…: or, of his chariots 5And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. 6Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. 7And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.
9¶ When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer, 10Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:8.10 Joram: also called, Hadoram8.10 salute…: Heb. ask him of peace8.10 had wars…: Heb. was a man of wars with8.10 brought…: Heb. in his hand were 11Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued; 12Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. 13And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.8.13 smiting: Heb. his smiting
14¶ And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David’s servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
15And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people. 16And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;8.16 recorder: or, remembrancer, or, writer of chronicles 17And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;8.17 scribe: or, secretary 18And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief rulers.8.18 chief rulers: or, princes
