1Eccovi le mie istruzioni per quanto riguarda la colletta che state facendo per i cristiani di Gerusalemme; sono le stesse istruzioni che ho dato alle chiese della Galazia. 2Ogni domenica, ciascuno di voi metta da parte qualcosa di ciò che ha guadagnato durante la settimana, e se ne serva per questa offerta. La somma dipenderà da quanto il Signore vi ha fatto guadagnare. Non aspettate il mio arrivo per raccogliere i soldi. 3Quando sarò arrivato, manderò il vostro dono con delle lettere di presentazione a Gerusalemme, tramite quelle persone, degne della vostra fiducia, che voi stessi avrete scelto. 4Se mi sembrerà il caso di andare, andrò io stesso, e i vostri inviati verranno con me.
5Verrò da voi dopo che sarò stato in Macedonia, ed 6è probabile che mi fermi per un bel poʼ di tempo, forse anche tutto lʼinverno. Così potrete aiutarmi a proseguire il mio viaggio verso la prossima destinazione. 7Questa volta non voglio farvi una visita veloce e continuare per la mia strada. Spero, invece, di fermarmi da voi per un poʼ di tempo, se lo permette il Signore. 8Mi tratterrò qui ad Efeso fino alla Pentecoste, 9perché qui mi si è presentata lʼopportunità di predicare e di insegnare, anche se ci sono molti nemici.
10Se viene Timòteo, fate in modo che si senta a casa sua, perché, come me, anche lui sta lavorando per il Signore. 11Che nessuno lo disprezzi. Anzi, aiutatelo a continuare il suo viaggio per venire da me, soddisfatto del periodo passato fra voi; io lʼaspetto insieme con gli altri fratelli.
12Più di una volta ho insistito perché Apollo venisse da voi con i fratelli, ma assolutamente non è voluto venire adesso. Verrà a trovarvi più avanti, quando ne avrà lʼoccasione.
13Tenete gli occhi aperti, siate costanti nella fede, agite da uomini, siate forti. 14E tutto ciò che fate, fatelo con amore.
15Vi ricordate di Stefana e della sua famiglia? Furono i primi in Grecia a convertirsi, e adesso passano la loro vita ad aiutare e a servire i cristiani dappertutto. 16Ebbene, io vi prego di lasciarvi guidare anche voi da loro, e di fare tutto ciò che potete per aiutarli e per aiutare chiunque lavora e fatica con tanta e sincera devozione. 17Sono così contento che Stefana, Fortunato e Acaico siano venuti qui a trovarmi: hanno riempito il vuoto che sentivo per la vostra assenza. 18Essi mi sono stati di grande incoraggiamento e di aiuto spirituale, come lo sono stati per voi. Sappiate, quindi, apprezzare le persone di questo stampo.
19Le chiese dellʼAsia vi mandano i loro saluti. Aquila e Priscilla, insieme con tutta la chiesa che si riunisce in casa loro, vi salutano con affetto. 20Tutti i fratelli mʼincaricano di salutarvi. Salutatevi fra di voi con un fraterno bacio. 21Voglio scrivere di mio pugno le ultime parole di questa lettera: 22se qualcuno non ama il Signore, sia maledetto. Vieni, Signore Gesù! 23Che lʼamore e la grazia del Signore Gesù siano con voi. 24Il mio affetto è con tutti voi, che appartenete a Gesù Cristo. Paolo.
1Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. 2Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. 3And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem. 4And if it be meet that I go also, they shall go with me. 5Now I will come unto you, when I shall pass through Macedonia: for I do pass through Macedonia. 6And it may be that I will abide, yea, and winter with you, that ye may bring me on my journey whithersoever I go. 7For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit. 8But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. 9For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries. 10Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do. 11Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren. 12As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time. 13Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. 14Let all your things be done with charity. 15I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) 16That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth. 17I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied. 18For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge ye them that are such.
19The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house. 20All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss. 21The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand. 22If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. 23The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. 24My love be with you all in Christ Jesus.
