A glória futuro de Sião
1Alegra-te tu, mulher que não tiveste filhos! Expande a tua alegria com cânticos, tu que não estás de parto! Porque tu que foste abandonada terás mais filhos do que a que tem marido, diz o Senhor. 2Amplia a tua habitação; acrescenta o espaço da tua tenda; não hesites! Alonga as cordas; firma bem as estacas! 3Porque em breve transbordarás por todos os lados! Os teus descendentes possuirão as cidades abandonadas durante o exílio e mandarão nas nações que tomaram as suas terras.
4Não tenhas receio; nunca mais viverás humilhada! O opróbrio da tua mocidade e o acabrunhamento da tua viuvez são coisas que nunca mais serão lembradas! 5Porque o teu Criador é o teu marido. Senhor dos exércitos é o seu nome, é o teu Redentor, o Santo de Israel, o Deus de toda a Terra. 6O Senhor chamou-te no meio do teu abatimento, pois eras como uma jovem mulher abandonada pelo seu marido. 7Por um curto espaço de tempo abandonei-te, mas com imensa compaixão te recolherei. 8Durante um momento de cólera, virei-vos a cara por algum tempo, mas com amor eterno terei piedade de vocês, diz o Senhor, o vosso Redentor.
9Tal como no tempo de Noé, em que jurei nunca mais permitir que águas dum dilúvio cobrissem a Terra e destruíssem a vida, também agora juro que nunca mais derramarei a minha ira sobre vocês nem vos ameaçarei. 10Ainda que as montanhas tremam e as colinas desapareçam, o meu amor infalível nunca vos abandonará. A aliança de paz que vos faço nunca será alterada, diz o Senhor, que tem piedade de vocês.
11Ó meu povo afligido e oprimido, batido pelas tempestades, tornarei a edificar-vos sobre alicerces de safiras! 12As vossas torres serão de rubi, as vossas portas de esmeralda e os vossos muros de joias cintilantes. 13Todos os teus filhos serão ensinados por mim e será grande a sua paz. 14Hão de viver sob um governo justo e honesto! Os vossos inimigos e tudo o que seja opressão estará bem longe! Viverão em paz e nunca terror algum se aproximará de vocês! 15Se alguma nação vier fazer-vos guerra, não terá sido enviada por mim para vos castigar, com toda a certeza! Será derrotada, pois estou convosco!
16Fui eu quem criou o ferreiro que sopra o carvão para aquecer a forja e fabricar as armas de destruição. Eu criei os exércitos devastadores. 17Mas nesse dia, que há de vir, arma alguma voltada contra ti terá sucesso e ser-te-á feita justiça sempre que quiserem condenar-te na base da mentira. Esta é a herança e o ganho dos servos do Senhor. Esta é a bênção que vos dei, diz o Senhor.

1“Sing, barren woman,
you who never bore a child;
burst into song, shout for joy,
you who were never in labor;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
than of her who has a husband,”
says the Lord.
2“Enlarge the place of your tent,
stretch your tent curtains wide,
do not hold back;
lengthen your cords,
strengthen your stakes.
3For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
your descendants will dispossess nations
and settle in their desolate cities.
4“Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.
Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth
and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.
5For your Maker is your husband—
the Lord Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.
6The Lord will call you back
as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—
a wife who married young,
only to be rejected,” says your God.
7“For a brief moment I abandoned you,
but with deep compassion I will bring you back.
8In a surge of anger
I hid my face from you for a moment,
but with everlasting kindness
I will have compassion on you,”
says the Lord your Redeemer.
9“To me this is like the days of Noah,
when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.
So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,
never to rebuke you again.
10Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
11“Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,

12I will make your battlements of rubies,
your gates of sparkling jewels,
and all your walls of precious stones.
13All your children will be taught by the Lord,
and great will be their peace.
14In righteousness you will be established:
Tyranny will be far from you;
you will have nothing to fear.
Terror will be far removed;
it will not come near you.
15If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
whoever attacks you will surrender to you.
16“See, it is I who created the blacksmith
who fans the coals into flame
and forges a weapon fit for its work.
And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;
17no weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and this is their vindication from me,”
declares the Lord.
