Salmos 12

Al director musical. Sobre la octava.[a] Salmo de David.

1Sálvanos, Señor, que ya no hay gente fiel;
    ya no queda gente sincera en este mundo.
No hacen sino mentirse unos a otros;
    sus labios lisonjeros hablan con doblez.

El Señor cortará todo labio lisonjero
    y toda lengua jactanciosa
que dice: «Venceremos con la lengua;
    en nuestros labios confiamos.
    ¿Quién puede dominarnos a nosotros?»

Dice el Señor: «Voy ahora a levantarme,
    y pondré a salvo a los oprimidos,
pues al pobre se le oprime,
    y el necesitado se queja».

Las palabras del Señor son puras,
    son como la plata refinada,
    siete veces purificada en el crisol.

Tú, Señor, nos protegerás;
    tú siempre nos defenderás de esta gente,
aun cuando los malvados sigan merodeando,
    y la maldad sea exaltada en este mundo.

Psalm 12

God, a Helper against the Treacherous.

For the choir director; [a]upon an eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm of David.

1Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases to be,
For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.
They speak [b]falsehood to one another;
With flattering [c]lips and with a double heart they speak.
May the Lord cut off all flattering lips,
The tongue that speaks great things;
Who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail;
Our lips are [d]our own; who is lord over us?”
“Because of the devastation of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy,
Now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will set him in the safety for which he longs.”

The words of the Lord are pure words;
As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.
You, O Lord, will keep them;
You will preserve him from this generation forever.
The wicked strut about on every side
When [e]vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
