Para o mestre de música. De acordo com a melodia Não Destruas. Salmo da família de Asafe. Um cântico.
1Damos-te graças, ó Deus,
damos-te graças, pois perto está o teu nome;
todos falam dos teus feitos maravilhosos.
2Tu dizes: “Eu determino o tempo
em que julgarei com justiça.
3Quando treme a terra com todos os seus habitantes,
sou eu que mantenho firmes as suas colunas. Pausa
4Aos arrogantes digo: Parem de vangloriar-se!
E aos ímpios: Não se rebelem!75.4 Hebraico: Não levantem o chifre; também no versículo 5.
5Não se rebelem contra os céus;
não falem com insolência”.
6Não é do oriente nem do ocidente
nem do deserto que vem a exaltação.
7É Deus quem julga:
Humilha a um, a outro exalta.
8Na mão do Senhor está um cálice
cheio de vinho espumante e misturado;
ele o derrama, e todos os ímpios da terra
o bebem até a última gota.
9Quanto a mim, para sempre anunciarei essas coisas;
cantarei louvores ao Deus de Jacó.

1We praise you, God,
we praise you, for your Name is near;
people tell of your wonderful deeds.
2You say, ‘I choose the appointed time;
it is I who judge with equity.
3When the earth and all its people quake,
it is I who hold its pillars firm.75:3 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here.
4To the arrogant I say, “Boast no more,”
and to the wicked, “Do not lift up your horns.75:4 Horns here symbolise strength; also in verses 5 and 10.
5Do not lift your horns against heaven;
do not speak so defiantly.” ’
6No-one from the east or the west
or from the desert can exalt themselves.
7It is God who judges:
he brings one down, he exalts another.
8In the hand of the Lord is a cup
full of foaming wine mixed with spices;
he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth
drink it down to its very dregs.
9As for me, I will declare this for ever;
I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,
10who says, ‘I will cut off the horns of all the wicked,
but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.’
