1Responde-me quando clamo,
ó Deus que me fazes justiça!
Dá-me alívio da minha angústia;
tem misericórdia de mim e ouve a minha oração.
2Até quando vocês, ó poderosos4.2 Ou mortais,
ultrajarão a minha honra?4.2 Ou desonrarão aquele em quem me glorio?
Até quando estarão amando ilusões
e buscando mentiras4.2 Ou deuses falsos?? Pausa
3Saibam que o Senhor escolheu o piedoso;
o Senhor ouvirá quando eu o invocar.
4Quando vocês ficarem irados, não pequem;
ao deitar-se, reflitam nisso
e aquietem-se. Pausa
5Ofereçam sacrifícios como Deus exige
e confiem no Senhor.
6Muitos perguntam: “Quem nos fará desfrutar o bem?”
Faze, ó Senhor, resplandecer sobre nós
a luz do teu rosto!4.6 Isto é, mostra-nos, Senhor, a tua bondade!
7Encheste o meu coração de alegria,
alegria maior do que a daqueles
que têm fartura de trigo e de vinho.
8Em paz me deito e logo adormeço,
pois só tu, Senhor,
me fazes viver em segurança.

1Answer me when I call to you,
my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2How long will you people turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods4:2 Or seek lies?4:2 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verse 4.
3Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.
4Tremble and4:4 Or In your anger (see Septuagint) do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.
5Offer the sacrifices of the righteous
and trust in the Lord.
6Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
Let the light of your face shine on us.
7Fill my heart with joy
when their grain and new wine abound.
8In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety.
