1Quem creu em nossa mensagem?
E a quem foi revelado o braço do Senhor?
2Ele cresceu diante dele como um broto tenro
e como uma raiz saída de uma terra seca.
Ele não tinha qualquer beleza ou majestade que nos atraísse,
nada havia em sua aparência para que o desejássemos.
3Foi desprezado e rejeitado pelos homens,
um homem de dores e experimentado no sofrimento.
Como alguém de quem os homens escondem o rosto,
foi desprezado, e nós não o tínhamos em estima.
4Certamente ele tomou sobre si as nossas enfermidades
e sobre si levou as nossas doenças;
contudo nós o consideramos castigado por Deus,
por Deus atingido e afligido.
5Mas ele foi traspassado por causa das nossas transgressões,
foi esmagado por causa de nossas iniquidades;
o castigo que nos trouxe paz estava sobre ele,
e pelas suas feridas fomos curados.
6Todos nós, como ovelhas, nos desviamos,
cada um de nós se voltou para o seu próprio caminho;
e o Senhor fez cair sobre ele
a iniquidade de todos nós.
7Ele foi oprimido e afligido;
e, contudo, não abriu a sua boca;
como um cordeiro, foi levado para o matadouro;
e, como uma ovelha que diante de seus tosquiadores fica calada,
ele não abriu a sua boca.
8Com julgamento opressivo ele foi levado.
E quem pode falar dos seus descendentes?
Pois ele foi eliminado da terra dos viventes;
por causa da transgressão do meu povo ele foi golpeado.53.8 Ou Contudo, quem da sua geração considerou que ele foi eliminado da terra dos viventes por causa da transgressão do meu povo, para quem era devido o castigo?
9Foi-lhe dado um túmulo com os ímpios
e com os ricos em sua morte,
embora não tivesse cometido nenhuma violência
nem houvesse nenhuma mentira em sua boca.
10Contudo, foi da vontade do Senhor esmagá-lo e fazê-lo sofrer,
e, embora o Senhor tenha feito53.10 Hebraico: embora você tenha feito. da vida dele uma oferta pela culpa,
ele verá sua prole e prolongará seus dias,
e a vontade do Senhor prosperará em sua mão.
11Depois do sofrimento de sua alma,
ele verá a luz53.11 Conforme os manuscritos do mar Morto. O Texto Massorético não traz a luz. e ficará satisfeito;53.11 Ou Ele verá o resultado do sofrimento da sua alma e ficará satisfeito;
pelo seu conhecimento meu servo justo justificará a muitos
e levará a iniquidade deles.
12Por isso eu lhe darei uma porção entre os grandes53.12 Ou entre muitos,
e ele dividirá os despojos com os fortes53.12 Ou numerosos,
porquanto ele derramou sua vida até a morte
e foi contado entre os transgressores.
Pois ele levou o pecado de muitos
e pelos transgressores intercedeu.
1Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
2He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
7He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
8By oppression53:8 Or From arrest and judgment he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was punished.53:8 Or generation considered / that he was cut off from the land of the living, / that he was punished for the transgression of my people?
9He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
10Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the Lord makes53:10 Hebrew though you make his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
11After he has suffered,
he will see the light of life53:11 Dead Sea Scrolls (see also Septuagint); Masoretic Text does not have the light of life. and be satisfied53:11 Or (with Masoretic Text) 11 He will see the fruit of his suffering / and will be satisfied;
by his knowledge53:11 Or by knowledge of him my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
12Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,53:12 Or many
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,53:12 Or numerous
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.
