Herrens dom

Gud, Herren Gud, har talat,
och han kallar på jorden från öster till väster.
2Från Sion i dess fullkomliga skönhet
träder Gud fram i glans.
3Vår Gud kommer, han håller inte tyst.
En uppslukande eld går framför honom
och en rasande storm omger honom.
4Han kallar på himlen där ovan, och på jorden,
för att döma sitt folk.
5”Samla till mig mina fromma,
som ingår ett förbund med mig genom offer.”
6Himlarna förkunnar hans rättfärdighet,
för Gud är den som dömer. Séla
7”Lyssna, mitt folk, jag vill tala!
Israel, jag vill vittna mot dig.
Jag är Gud, din Gud.
8Jag klagar inte på dina offer eller brännoffer,
för dem har jag alltid framför mig.
9Jag behöver inga tjurar från ditt stall
eller bockar ur dina fållor,
10för alla skogens djur är mina,
likaså boskapen på de tusentals bergen.
11Jag känner varje fågel i bergen
och allt levande på marken är mitt.
12Även om jag var hungrig,
skulle jag inte säga det till dig,
för hela jorden är min,
och allt som finns på den.
13Skulle jag äta kött från tjurar
och dricka blod från bockar?
14Offra tacksägelse åt Gud,
och fullfölj vad du lovat till den Högste.
15Ropa till mig i nödens tid,
och jag ska befria dig, och du ska ära mig.”
16Men till den gudlöse säger Gud:
”Varför rabblar du bara upp mina bud
och talar om mitt förbund
17du som hatar vägledning
och vänder ryggen åt mina ord?
18När du ser en tjuv, slår du dig ihop med honom,
och du ger dig i lag med äktenskapsbrytare.
19Du använder din mun till det onda
och väver svek med din tunga.
20Du talar illa om din bror
och förtalar din mors son.
21Detta har du gjort, och jag höll mig tyst.
Du tänkte då att jag var som du.
Men jag tänker gå till rätta med dig
och låta dig se att jag straffar dig.
22Lägg märke till detta, ni som glömmer Gud,
för att jag inte ska slita er i stycken,
och då kan ingen rädda er längre.
23Den som offrar tacksägelse ärar mig,
och den som vandrar på min väg ska jag låta se Guds frälsning.”

2Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.
3Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
4He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
5Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
6And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
7Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God.
8I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.
9I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.
10For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
11I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.50.11 mine: Heb. with me
12If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
13Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
14Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
15And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
16But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
17Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.
18When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.50.18 hast…: Heb. thy portion was with
19Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.50.19 givest: Heb. sendest
20Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.
21These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
22Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.
23Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.50.23 that…: Heb. that disposeth his way
