Herrens ära och makt
1En psalm av David.
Ge Herren, ni Guds söner,
ge Herren ära och makt!
2Ära honom för hans härliga namn!
Böj er inför Herren i helig skrud29:2 Eller härlighet/glans, vilket i så fall syftar på Herren och inte på dem som uppmanas till tillbedjan..
3Herrens röst hörs över vattnen,
Gud, den upphöjde, dundrar.
Herrens röst hörs över de stora vattnen.
4Herrens röst är väldig,
Herrens röst är praktfull.
5Herrens röst knäcker cedrar,
Herren knäcker Libanons cedrar.
6Han får Libanon att hoppa som en kalv
och Sirjon som en vildoxe.
7Herrens röst slår med ljungande blixtar.
8Herrens röst skakar öknen,
Herren skakar Kadeshöknen.
9Herrens röst får hindarna att kalva,
den klär av träden i skogarna.
Allting i hans tempel ropar: ”Ära!”
10Herren satt på sin tron vid syndafloden,
Herren sitter på sin tron för evigt.
11Herren ger sitt folk styrka.
Herren välsignar sitt folk med frid.

A psalm of David.
1Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name;
worship the Lord in the splendour of his29:2 Or Lord with the splendour of holiness.
3The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.
4The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is majestic.
5The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,
Sirion29:6 That is, Mount Hermon like a young wild ox.
7The voice of the Lord strikes
with flashes of lightning.
8The voice of the Lord shakes the desert;
the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.
9The voice of the Lord twists the oaks29:9 Or Lord makes the deer give birth
and strips the forests bare.
And in his temple all cry, ‘Glory!’
10The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
the Lord is enthroned as King for ever.
11The Lord gives strength to his people;
the Lord blesses his people with peace.
