Lov och pris till Herren
1Herre, du är min Herre,
jag vill upphöja dig och prisa ditt namn.
Du har fullföljt dina planer,
gjort underbara ting sedan urtiden,
i stor trofasthet.
2Du har förvandlat staden till en grushög,
lagt befästningen i ruiner.
Främlingarnas fästning är inte längre någon stad
och kommer aldrig mer att byggas upp igen.
3Därför ärar ett starkt folk dig,
och grymma nationer fruktar dig.
4Du är en fästning för den svage,
en fästning för den fattige i hans nöd,
en tillflykt undan storm,
en skugga i hettan.
De grymmas andedräkt är
som en störtskur mot en vägg,
5som hettan i ett ökenland.
Du tystar främlingarnas larm,
och som skuggan av ett moln
tar de grymmas sång slut.
6Här på detta berg ska härskarornas Herre
ordna ett gästabud för alla folk,
en fest med mycket mat och viner av högsta kvalitet,
rätter av bästa slag och utsökt, klarat vin.
7På detta berg ska han förstöra den svepning
som täcker alla folk,
den slöja som skyler alla nationer.
8Han ska för alltid göra slut på döden.
Herren, Herren ska torka bort alla tårar från alla ansikten
och göra slut på sitt folks vanära på hela jorden. Herren har talat.
9På den dagen ska man säga:
”Det här är vår Gud,
den som vi väntade på,
vår räddare.
Det här är Herren som vi väntade på.
Låt oss jubla och vara glada
över hans räddning.”
10För Herrens hand vilar över detta berg,
men Moab ska trampas ner
som halm i dyn under hans fötter.
11Han breder ut sina händer mitt i halmen
som simmaren som ska simma.
Gud ska göra slut på hans stolthet
över vad han med sina händer kan åstadkomma.25:11 Grundtextens innebörd i versens sista del är oviss.
12Dina höga fästningsmurar förstör han
och bryter ner dem till marken,
gör dem till grus.
1O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. 2For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built. 3Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee. 4For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. 5Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
6¶ And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. 7And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.25.7 destroy: Heb. swallow up25.7 cast: Heb. covered 8He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
9¶ And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. 10For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.25.10 trodden down under: or, threshed, etc25.10 trodden down for…: or, threshed in Madmenah 11And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands. 12And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.
