Gloria Sionului
1Ridică‑te! Strălucește! Căci lumina ta a venit
și slava Domnului a răsărit peste tine.
2Căci, iată, întunericul învăluie pământul,
și negura deasă acoperă popoarele,
dar peste tine răsare Domnul,
și slava Lui apare deasupra ta.
3Neamurile vor veni la lumina ta
și împărații vor lua parte la strălucirea zorilor tale.
4Ridică‑ți ochii și privește în jur!
Cu toții se adună și vin la tine:
fiii tăi vor veni de departe,
iar fiicele tale vor fi purtate pe brațe.
5Când vei vedea acestea, te vei lumina;
inima ta va înmărmuri și se va lărgi.
Căci belșugul mării se va întoarce la tine;
bogăția neamurilor va veni la tine.
6Vei fi acoperit de o mulțime de cămile,
de cămile tinere din Midian și Efa.
Toți cei din Șeba vor veni
aducând aur și tămâie
și vestind laudele Domnului.
7Toate turmele Chedarului vor fi adunate la tine.
Berbecii din Nebaiot îți vor sluji,
suindu‑se pe altarul Meu ca o jertfă acceptată,
iar Eu Îmi voi împodobi cu slavă Casa măreției Mele.
8Cine sunt aceștia care zboară ca un nor
și ca niște porumbei spre cuiburile lor?
9Într-adevăr, insulele Mă vor aștepta,
iar corăbiile de Tarșiș9 Vezi nota de la 2:16. sunt cele dintâi
care îți aduc fiii de departe,
împreună cu argintul și aurul lor,
pentru Numele Domnului, Dumnezeul tău,
și pentru Sfântul lui Israel,
căci El te‑a împodobit cu slavă.
10Străinii îți vor reface zidurile
și împărații lor îți vor sluji,
pentru că, deși în mânia Mea te‑am lovit,
totuși, în bunătatea Mea, îți arăt îndurare.
11Porțile tale vor fi pentru totdeauna deschise;
ele nu vor fi închise nici ziua și nici noaptea,
pentru ca neamurile să îți aducă bogăția lor,
cu împărații lor în fruntea procesiunii.
12Căci neamul și împărăția care nu‑ți vor sluji vor pieri;
neamurile acelea vor fi în întregime pustiite.
13Gloria Libanului va veni la tine –
chiparosul, ulmul și pinul împreună –
ca să împodobească locul Sfântului Meu Lăcaș,
și Eu voi glorifica locul picioarelor Mele.
14Fiii asupritorilor tăi vor veni
aplecați înaintea ta
și toți disprețuitorii tăi se vor pleca
cu fața la picioarele tale.
Te vor numi «Cetatea Domnului»,
«Sionul Sfântului lui Israel».
15În loc să mai fii părăsită,
urâtă și ocolită de toți,
Eu voi face din tine o minunăție veșnică
și o pricină de bucurie pentru toate generațiile.
16Vei suge laptele neamurilor,
vei suge bogățiile16 Lit.: sânul. Neamurile și împărații sunt descriși ca o mamă care‑și alăptează copiii. Imaginea prezintă Sionul ca fiind hrănit de aceasta. împăraților
și vei înțelege că Eu, Domnul, sunt Mântuitorul
și Răscumpărătorul tău, Puternicul lui Iacov.
17În schimbul bronzului îți voi aduce aur,
iar în schimbul fierului, argint;
în schimbul lemnului îți voi aduce bronz,
iar în schimbul pietrelor, fier.
Voi face pacea îngrijitorul tău
și dreptatea stăpânitorul tău.
18Nu se va mai auzi de violență în țara ta,
nici de pustiire sau distrugere în teritoriile tale,
ci îți vei numi zidurile «Mântuire»
și porțile «Laudă».
19Nu soarele îți va mai fi lumină ziua,
nu luna îți va mai da lumină noaptea,
ci Domnul va fi lumina ta veșnică,
și Dumnezeul tău va fi măreția ta.
20Soarele tău nu va mai apune,
iar luna ta nu se va mai întuneca,
pentru că Domnul va fi lumina ta veșnică
și zilele tale de bocet se vor sfârși.
21Toți din poporul tău vor fi drepți
și vor stăpâni țara pe vecie.
Ei sunt vlăstarul plantației Mele,
lucrarea mâinilor Mele,
ca să‑Mi arate slava.
22Cel mai mic va crește de o mie de ori
și cel mai neînsemnat va deveni un neam puternic.
Eu sunt Domnul și, la vremea cuvenită lor,
voi face să se împlinească repede aceste lucruri.
The glory of Zion
1‘Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
2See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
3Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
4‘Lift up your eyes and look about you:
all assemble and come to you;
your sons come from afar,
and your daughters are carried on the hip.
5Then you will look and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with joy;
the wealth on the seas will be brought to you,
to you the riches of the nations will come.
6Herds of camels will cover your land,
young camels of Midian and Ephah.
And all from Sheba will come,
bearing gold and incense
and proclaiming the praise of the Lord.
7All Kedar’s flocks will be gathered to you,
the rams of Nebaioth will serve you;
they will be accepted as offerings on my altar,
and I will adorn my glorious temple.
8‘Who are these that fly along like clouds,
like doves to their nests?
9Surely the islands look to me;
in the lead are the ships of Tarshish,60:9 Or the trading ships
bringing your children from afar,
with their silver and gold,
to the honour of the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendour.
10‘Foreigners will rebuild your walls,
and their kings will serve you.
Though in anger I struck you,
in favour I will show you compassion.
11Your gates will always stand open,
they will never be shut, day or night,
so that people may bring you the wealth of the nations –
their kings led in triumphal procession.
12For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish;
it will be utterly ruined.
13‘The glory of Lebanon will come to you,
the juniper, the fir and the cypress together,
to adorn my sanctuary;
and I will glorify the place for my feet.
14The children of your oppressors will come bowing before you;
all who despise you will bow down at your feet
and will call you the City of the Lord,
Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15‘Although you have been forsaken and hated,
with no-one travelling through,
I will make you the everlasting pride
and the joy of all generations.
16You will drink the milk of nations
and be nursed at royal breasts.
Then you will know that I, the Lord, am your Saviour,
your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
17Instead of bronze I will bring you gold,
and silver in place of iron.
Instead of wood I will bring you bronze,
and iron in place of stones.
I will make peace your governor
and well-being your ruler.
18No longer will violence be heard in your land,
nor ruin or destruction within your borders,
but you will call your walls Salvation
and your gates Praise.
19The sun will no more be your light by day,
nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,
for the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory.
20Your sun will never set again,
and your moon will wane no more;
the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and your days of sorrow will end.
21Then all your people will be righteous
and they will possess the land for ever.
They are the shoot I have planted,
the work of my hands,
for the display of my splendour.
22The least of you will become a thousand,
the smallest a mighty nation.
I am the Lord;
in its time I will do this swiftly.’
