1Elihu a continuat și a zis:
2„Mai rabdă‑mă puțin și‑ți voi arăta
că mai sunt lucruri de spus în favoarea lui Dumnezeu.
3Îmi voi aduce cunoștința de departe
și voi arăta dreptatea Creatorului meu.
4Căci, cu adevărat, vorbele mele nu sunt o înșelătorie;
unul desăvârșit în cunoștință este cu voi.
5Iată, Dumnezeu este măreț și nu respinge pe nimeni;
este măreț prin tăria inimii Lui.
6El nu‑l ține în viață pe cel rău,
și le face dreptate celor asupriți.
7Nu‑Și ia ochii de la cei drepți,
ci îi așază pe tron împreună cu împărații
și îi înalță pentru totdeauna.
8Dacă sunt legați în lanțuri
și ținuți în legăturile suferinței,
9El le spune despre lucrarea lor și despre fărădelegile lor,
le spune că s‑au mândrit.
10El le deschide urechile spre disciplină
și le poruncește să se întoarcă de la nelegiuire.
11Dacă Îl ascultă și‑L slujesc,
își vor sfârși zilele în fericire,
și anii lor în desfătări.
12Dar dacă ei nu ascultă, vor pieri de sabie12 Sau: vor trece râul (vezi nota de la 33:18).
și vor muri fără cunoștință.
13Cei lipsiți de evlavie în inimă nutresc mânie;
nu strigă după ajutor când El îi leagă.
14Ei mor în tinerețe14 Lit.: Sufletul lor moare în tinerețe.
și viața lor sfârșește printre cei ce se prostituează14 Termenul se referă la bărbații care practicau prostituția sacră în temple..
15Dar pe cei suferinzi El îi scapă prin suferința lor
și le deschide urechea prin asuprire.
16Tot așa te‑ar fi scos și pe tine din necaz,
la un loc larg, departe de strâmtorare
și ar fi pus pe masa ta bucate alese.
17Dar tu te‑ai umplut cu judecata celui rău;
judecata și dreptatea te cuprind.
18Nimeni să nu te amăgească prin bogății18 Sensul versului este nesigur. Sau: să nu te instige la batjocură.
și nu lăsa ca un dar bogat să te abată de pe cale!
19Te‑ar putea feri de necaz bogăția
sau toate eforturile pe care le faci?
20Nu tânji după noapte,
ca să smulgi popoarele din locul lor20 Sau: căci atunci sunt smulse popoarele din locul lor..18-20 Sensul acestor versete este nesigur.
21Ai grijă! Nu te întoarce spre nelegiuire;
căci se pare că ai ales‑o, mai degrabă, pe aceasta decât suferința.
22Iată, Dumnezeu este înălțat în puterea Sa;
care învățător este ca El?
23Cine I‑a rânduit calea
sau cine‑I poate spune: «Ai greșit!»
24Adu‑ți aminte să‑I preamărești lucrarea
pe care oamenii au lăudat‑o în cântare.
25Toți oamenii au văzut‑o;
fiecare privește la ea de departe.
26Iată, Dumnezeu este mare, iar noi nu cunoaștem totul!
Numărul anilor Lui este de nepătruns.
27Căci El trage picăturile de apă
și ele prefac aburul în ploaie,27 Sau: El ia vaporii din apă / și îi transformă în ploaie.
28pe care norii o lasă să cadă
și care picură din plin peste oameni.
29Cine poate înțelege răspândirea norilor,
zgomotele cortului său?
30Iată, El Își răspândește lumina în jurul Lui
și acoperă adâncurile mării.
31Căci prin acestea judecă31 Sau: hrănește. El popoarele;
El le dă hrană din belșug.
32El acoperă fulgerul cu palmele
și‑i poruncește unde să lovească.
33Tunetul Său Îi vestește sosirea,
iar furtuna anunță mânia Sa aprinsă.33 Sensul versetului este nesigur. Sau Tunetul Său vestește apropierea furtunii; / până și turmele îi simt apropierea.
