Căderea Ierusalimului este profețită
1– Iar tu, fiul omului, ia o cărămidă, pune‑o înaintea ta și gravează pe ea o cetate înfățișând Ierusalimul. 2Înfățișeaz‑o sub asediu: zidește împotriva ei întărituri, înalță împotriva ei o rampă de asalt, pune împotriva ei tabere și ridică împotriva ei berbeci de fier. 3Apoi ia un grătar de fier, pune‑o ca pe un zid de fier între tine și cetate și îndreaptă‑ți fața împotriva acesteia, ca ea să fie sub asediu și tu s‑o împresori. Acesta va fi un semn pentru Casa lui Israel.
4După aceea culcă‑te pe partea ta stângă și pune pe ea nelegiuirea Casei lui Israel! Câte zile vei sta culcat pe această parte, vei purta nelegiuirea lor. 5Ți‑am hotărât un număr de zile potrivit cu anii nelegiuirii lor: trei sute nouăzeci de zile vei purta nelegiuirea Casei lui Israel.
6După ce vei termina cu acestea, să te culci a doua oară, pe partea ta dreaptă, și să porți nelegiuirea Casei lui Iuda timp de patruzeci de zile. Ți‑am hotărât, așadar, câte o zi pentru fiecare an. 7Apoi îndreaptă‑ți fața spre Ierusalimul asediat și profețește împotriva cetății cu brațul descoperit. 8Iată, voi pune peste tine funii, ca să nu te poți întoarce de pe o parte pe alta, până ți se vor împlini zilele asediului tău.
9Ia‑ți niște grâu, orz, fasole, linte, mei și secară albă și pune‑ți‑le într‑un vas, ca să‑ți poți face mâncare din ele pe tot parcursul zilelor cât vei sta culcat pe o parte. Timp de trei sute nouăzeci de zile să mănânci din ele. 10Hrana pe care o vei mânca zilnic să fie în greutate de douăzeci de șecheli10 Sau: siclii, greutate de bază, comună la toate popoarele semite antice; existau mai multe tipuri de șechel: regal (2 Sam. 14:26; aproximativ 13 gr), obișnuit (aproximativ 12 gr) și cel al Lăcașului (Ex. 30:13; aproximativ 10 gr); greutatea șechelului a variat în diferite vremuri și în diferite zone; aproximativ 0,24 kg.; să mănânci din ea din când în când. 11Apa să o bei cu măsură, și anume a șasea parte dintr‑un hin11 Aproximativ 0,6 l.; să bei din ea din când în când. 12Să mănânci o turtă de orz și s‑o coci înaintea ochilor lor, folosind fecale de om uscate.
13Apoi Domnul a zis:
– Tot la fel de necurată va fi și pâinea pe care o vor mânca fiii lui Israel, acolo unde îi voi izgoni, printre neamuri.
14Atunci eu am zis:
– Ah, Stăpâne Doamne, iată, sufletul meu nu a fost întinat niciodată, căci, din tinerețea mea și până acum, nu am mâncat cadavre de animale sau animale sfâșiate și nu mi‑a intrat în gură carne necurată.
15El mi‑a răspuns:
– Ei bine, iată, îți dau balegă de bou în loc de fecale de om și‑ți vei coace pâinea pe ea.
16Apoi mi‑a zis:
– Fiul omului, voi zdrobi toiagul pâinii în Ierusalim, așa încât cu frică își vor mânca porția de pâine și cu groază își vor bea rația de apă. 17Vor duce lipsă de pâine și de apă, se vor îngrozi unii de ceilalți și se vor chinui din cauza nelegiuirii lor.

9¶ Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof.4.9 fitches: or, spelt 10And thy meat which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat it. 11Thou shalt drink also water by measure, the sixth part of an hin: from time to time shalt thou drink. 12And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight. 13And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them. 14Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul hath not been polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth. 15Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow’s dung for man’s dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith. 16Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment: 17That they may want bread and water, and be astonied one with another, and consume away for their iniquity.
