Traversarea Mării Roșii
1Apoi Domnul i‑a vorbit lui Moise, zicând: 2„Spune‑le fiilor lui Israel să se întoarcă și să‑și așeze tabăra lângă Pi‑Hahirot, între Migdol și mare, față în față cu Baal-Țefon. Să vă așezați tabăra lângă mare, față în față cu Baal-Țefon. 3Faraon va zice despre fiii lui Israel: «Rătăcesc fără țintă prin țară, îi înghite pustia.» 4Eu îi voi împietri inima lui Faraon și el îi va urmări. Însă Îmi voi aduce slavă prin Faraon și prin toată oștirea lui. Egiptenii vor ști astfel că Eu sunt Domnul.“ Și ei au făcut întocmai.
5Când i s‑a spus regelui Egiptului că poporul a fugit, inima lui Faraon și a slujitorilor săi s‑a întors5 Vezi nota de la Ex. 4:21. împotriva poporului și au zis: „Ce‑am făcut? Cum de l‑am lăsat pe Israel să plece și să nu ne mai slujească?“ 6Faraon și‑a pregătit carul și și‑a luat cu el poporul. 7A luat șase sute de care alese și toate celelalte care ale Egiptului, fiecare cu propria lui căpetenie. 8Domnul a împietrit8 Vezi nota de la Ex. 4:21. inima lui Faraon, regele Egiptului, astfel că acesta i‑a urmărit pe fiii lui Israel. În acest timp, fiii lui Israel ieșeau cu îndrăzneală. 9Egiptenii i‑au urmărit cu toți caii și carele lui Faraon, cu călăreții9 Sau: conducătorii carelor (și în v. 17-18, 23, 26 și 28). și armata acestuia. I‑au ajuns tocmai când aveau tabăra așezată lângă mare, lângă Pi‑Hahirot, față în față cu Baal-Țefon. 10În timp ce Faraon se apropia, fiii lui Israel și‑au ridicat ochii și iată că egiptenii mărșăluiau după ei. Atunci fiii lui Israel s‑au temut foarte tare și au strigat către Domnul.
11Apoi i‑au zis lui Moise:
– Pentru că nu mai erau morminte în Egipt ne‑ai adus să murim în pustie? Ce ne‑ai făcut scoțându‑ne din Egipt? 12Nu tocmai aceasta îți spuneam noi în Egipt, când ziceam: „Lasă‑ne să slujim egiptenilor, căci este mai bine pentru noi să slujim egiptenilor decât să murim în pustie“?
13Dar Moise a zis poporului:
– Nu vă temeți, stați fermi și veți vedea izbăvirea pe care Domnul v‑o va da azi, pentru că pe egiptenii pe care îi vedeți azi nu‑i veți mai vedea niciodată. 14Domnul Se va lupta pentru voi; voi însă, să stați liniștiți.
15Apoi Domnul i‑a zis lui Moise: „De ce strigi către Mine? Vorbește‑le fiilor lui Israel să meargă înainte. 16Tu să‑ți ridici toiagul și să‑ți întinzi mâna spre mare, iar ea se va despărți, și fiii lui Israel vor trece prin mijlocul mării ca pe uscat. 17Iar Eu, iată, voi împietri inimile egiptenilor și aceștia vor merge după ei. Astfel Îmi voi aduce slavă prin Faraon și prin toată oștirea lui, prin carele și călăreții lui. 18Egiptenii vor ști că Eu sunt Domnul, atunci când Îmi voi aduce slavă prin Faraon, prin carele și prin călăreții lui.“
19Îngerul lui Dumnezeu, Care mergea înaintea taberei lui Israel, Și‑a schimbat locul și a mers în urma lor. Stâlpul de nor s‑a ridicat dinaintea lor și a stat în urma lor. 20El a venit între tabăra egiptenilor și tabăra lui Israel. Astfel, acolo erau atât norul, cât și întunericul. Norul lumina noaptea. Cele două tabere nu s‑au apropiat una de cealaltă toată noaptea.
21Apoi Moise și‑a întins mâna spre mare. Domnul a pus marea în mișcare printr‑un vânt puternic dinspre răsărit, care a despărțit apele și a făcut din mare pământ uscat. 22Fiii lui Israel au trecut prin mijlocul mării ca pe pământ uscat, apele făcându‑se zid la dreapta și la stânga lor. 23Egiptenii i‑au urmărit, și toți caii lui Faraon, carele și călăreții lui au intrat după ei în mijlocul mării. 24Spre dimineață, Domnul S‑a uitat la tabăra egiptenilor din stâlpul de foc și de nor și a adus panică în tabăra egiptenilor. 25Le‑a scos roțile de la care și i‑a făcut astfel să le mânuiască cu greutate. Atunci egiptenii au zis: „Să fugim dinaintea lui Israel căci Domnul luptă pentru ei împotriva Egiptului!“
26Apoi Domnul i‑a zis lui Moise: „Întinde‑ți mâna spre mare și apele vor veni înapoi peste egipteni, peste carele și peste călăreții lor.“ 27Moise și‑a întins mâna spre mare și, înspre dimineață, marea a revenit la adâncimea ei. În timp ce egiptenii fugeau din calea ei, Domnul i‑a năpustit pe aceștia în mijlocul mării. 28Apele s‑au întors și au acoperit carele, călăreții și toată armata lui Faraon, care intrase după ei în mijlocul mării. N‑a mai rămas între ei nici măcar unul. 29Însă fiii lui Israel au mers prin mijlocul mării ca pe uscat, apele făcându‑se zid la dreapta și la stânga lor.
30În ziua aceea, Domnul l‑a izbăvit pe Israel din mâna egiptenilor, și Israel i‑a văzut pe egipteni morți pe malul mării. 31Israel a văzut lucrarea31 Lit.: mâna. măreață pe care Domnul a înfăptuit‑o împotriva egiptenilor. Astfel, poporul s‑a temut de Domnul și a crezut în Domnul și în robul Său Moise.
1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. 3For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. 4And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.
5¶ And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us? 6And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: 7And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. 8And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. 9But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.
10¶ And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. 11And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 12Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
13¶ And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.14.13 for the…: or, for whereas ye have seen the Egyptians to day 14The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: 16But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. 17And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. 18And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19¶ And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: 20And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
21And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 22And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23¶ And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, 25And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.14.25 that they…: or, and made them to go heavily
26¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. 27And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.14.27 overthrew: Heb. shook off 28And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. 29But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. 30Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. 31And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.14.31 work: Heb. hand
